So I just received a call at 7pm today and it was from an unknown number. The lady said she was from UCSD and that I am admitted. Is it normal for colleges to do that? I’m curious and kind of skeptical.
UCSD does that; the same thing happened to me. Don’t worry, it’s legitimate.

I received it last year, when I was in HS.
My son received that call last year. Apparently, it is a UCSD tradition to call as many accepted students as possible, although they don’t contact all of them. It can be disconcerting for hopeful applicants when they hear about others receiving calls. I had read that some students (mainly high-powered STEM applicants) had heard at least a week before my son received his call.
Congratulations on the acceptance! What are your stats and ethnicity if you don’t mind me asking?
I hope this isn’t too weird of a question, but by “unknown number”, was it a no caller ID?
Do you have any messages in your portal as well saying that you have been accepted?
I got the call today! There is no change to my portal, however… And it’s kinda weird that the number was unknown. Whatever, though. Getting the call while at Disneyland was pretty cool. 
Are they going to continue calling tomorrow?
@Richardconter yeah they are gnna keep calling until our acceptances are on UCSD’s portal 
I received an unknown call this Monday. Didn’t pickup though… Why don’t their number or location show up 
I got the call last week too! I was skeptical at first because they haven’t updated my portal. I applied as a Poli-Sci major, what about you? … I am also wondering I got placed in Muir.
