@yowhatup11 Everything is getting more competitive and more and more people are applying for universities. I heard they’re going to Up their TAG requirements from 3.0 to 3.5 because of it. It sucks but honestly, I can understand. Each university has their method of releasing batches, I don’t see a point in bad-mouthing the school itself.

@Cuirde: I’m an econ: management science major. My alternative major was math/econ.

Hey man, we’re all on edge. Just try not to think about it until admissions decisions are released. Think positive, and don’t do anything drastic.

@cuirderussie:

you’re definitely not alone man, I have not been admitted to a single UC hang in there buddy

CShizzle77, computer engineering is not impacted at UCSD. As long as you have fullfilled the general TAG requirements you should be in. Even if you are missing a few pre-reqs that’s OK (since the major is not impacted). I honestly don’t believe you will have a problem getting in (under TAG) unless of course, you have virtually no pre-reqs completed or something like that.

The ONLY majors impacted in the school of engineering are:

Bioengineering, Mechanical and Aerospace.

thanks Victor!

by the time of transferring I’ll have 7/13 prereqs completed hopefully if I pass!

but does UCSD ever look at your alt. major to make a decision? or if you do not get in with your primary major it’s game over

so i guess i will hear from SD after i hear from LA and Cal. nice job SD.

CSizzle:

Pre-Reqs do NOT matter for un-impacted majors. I got into UCSD last year for Electrical Engineering with only Calc 1 & 2 done (NO physics or chem completed). 3.0 and IGETC and you’re good to go. UCSD is incredibly easy to get into as a transfer when you consider how high it’s ranked, they just have a habit of making you wait for it (I wasn’t admitted until about 5 PM on April 30th).

And to everyone in this thread… UCSD was like this last year, just relax you probably won’t hear until the 29th as last year UCSD saved their last batch of admits until the very end… CAL and UCLA did get their decisions out earlier. Just wait it out.

@UCeric2010: Thanks for that! My friend also applied last year to UCSD and was not accepted until April 30th at 5pm lol. And that was the only school he applied to!

I’m Econ: Management Science. GPA is ~3.65. All prereqs and IGETC done. Also have AP credits.

April 30th can’t come quck enough!

yeah thank you UCeric for relieving some of the tension in this thread!

I really needed that!

for some reason I cant access my application right now. is that normal?

System Error. Please report the following to the Customer Service Representative or call the ACT Help Desk at (858) 534-1853 or (858) 534-3187 (after business hours).

yeah it happens every night after 12

@UCeric2010
just wondering. with so little pre-reqs done for engineering major, how you gonna graduate in 2years?

@passwordis:

I wasn’t going to graduate in two years… thats part of the reason why I didn’t go to UCSD. Anyways as an engineering major you’re not expected to graduate in two years, when I went down to UCSD to check out the ECE department they had a curriculum plan for transfers and even with 100% pre-req completion they expect it to take 3 years (9 quarters).

If you want to graduate in 2 years (engineering) after transferring into UCSD, you have to be an absolute genius. Expect 4 classes per quarter and 2 per summer.

According to their engineering ed plans, engineering transfer students have to finish around 30 classes at UCSD.

As much as I would love to go to UCSD. It’s bound to kick my butt.

Regarding the UCSD Engineering curriculum, I’d take a look at the course catalog and see when classes are offered. Even though it varies between majors, I applied there for BioEng and a mandatory intro prereq to basically all the upper division BME classes is only available in the Spring quarter. It’s also not a class that is offered at any CCs. If you go to UCSD, you’re supposed to take the class during your sophomore year.

Considering this, i would HAVE to attend school there for 3 years regardless to the fact that I already have all my prereqs (IGETC, bio seq, chem seq, ochem seq, phys seq, up to linear alg in the math seq). This would also leave me with 2 quarters where I have no classes to take :(

This would kind of be a deciding factor for me to go to another school and complete the same degree in only 2 years, but all in all, it’ll be up to you. But it’s worth checking.

Man, what the hell is going on with UCSD? Are there not even any rumors regarding next batch release?

Sigh…

My housing message changed today to the “unavailable until June 1st…”. When i checked yesterday it was the older message where you couldn’t access it due to your admissions status or whatever. Hopefully it’s a good sign!

Major: CS-Math.
UC to UC transfer

@pug101 im a math major too what’s ur stat have u done all the pre req done. Also are u from riverside county

“If you want to graduate in 2 years (engineering) after transferring into UCSD, you have to be an absolute genius.”

No?

Taking 4 classes per quarter is a regular schedule. If you finished all the pre-reqs, I can’t imagine it taking more than 2 years if you follow a regular schedule. I’m doing computer science, and if I decided to go to UCSD, I could easily finish within 4 quarters.

Yeah I finished all the prereqs. Took all calc + diff equations + linear algebra.

Major gpa around 3.9

And are you asking if I’m from UCR? if so, yes.
