UCSD admission rubric?!?!

Does anyone know if its actually true that UCSD, and some other UCs, use a rubric to determine whether or not one gets admitted?

UCSD Freshman Comprehensive Review Process (Dec 2004)

Supposedly the cutoff for year 2009 students was 7700.

=/

[[sources are appreciated]]

THANK YOU FOR ALL REPLIES!

UCSD and UCD use it. I don’t know if Irvine employs this tool, but from the looks of the outcome, I don’t think Irvine does. Yes, the cutoff increased a lot this year. If you were off by a couple points, the school put you under Winter Admit.

Looks like being disadvantaged gives you a lot of bonus points.

yea i have like 7990 =/

if my parents were low income, with little education and i came from a ghetto place and went to a ghetto school i’d have at least 600 more points

well…i’m going to hope the cutoff for c/o 2010 isn’t too high

do a google search for “ucsd comprehensive review”. The link to the site at ucsd.edu where they give their formula is the 1st link

yea i dont think it will go past 7850 for next year

anybody know if IB diploma candidates are given points in this rubric – for being a diploma candidate rather than just an IB student? (taking identical classes – but diploma requires CAS and extended essay)

I hear UC app asks “Are you a diploma candidate?” If true, does that mean it has sginifcant impact?

Do different UCs look at this diffferently?

I believe, Diploma Candidate = 2 Years in a Educational Prep. Program. Subject Candidate = Nothing.
