UCSD Advice

Hi Everyone,

I will be attending UCSD this fall. I got accepted as a comm major, however, I would like to switch my major to either political science, international realtions, or economics. Does anyone know how this might be possible? Should I submit my SIR first and then change or can I change it before?

Also, does anyone have the scoop on sixth college? Is it notorious for anything and is there anything I should be concerned/aware of?

Thanks a lot for your time and help.

You can change your major now if you like, as far as I know. I changed mine for UCSD during the application process, around February, and it was totally fine.

I chose Sixth College first in my application (although I got into Marshall), so I informed myself a bit about it:

 • IGETC is accepted!
 • If you complete IGETC, all you have to do at UCSD is a practicum and a reflection writing course.

Here’s the link to UCSD’s Sixth College wepage: [Why Choose Sixth College](http://sixth.ucsd.edu/about/choose_sixth.html)

thanks a lot deanza… will you share with me how you changed your major?

Thanks, and CONGRATS on Berk… very sick

And also, these two requirements:
University requirements
American History & Institutions (AHI requirement)
Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR, formerly known as the Subject A requirement)

are they satisfied through IGETC?

Thanks again!
