UCSD Alum Taking Q's

i hear social life is better if you live off campus…is this true?

depends on who you plan on hanging around with … other UCSD freshmen? or san diego hipsters?

oh alrite. thanks
(fyi i plan on kickin it with other sders, but not necessariyl freshman.)

what is the girl/guy ratio at muir?

also, do people who go to that college tend to be better/worse looking?

50/50

triton eye is what it is. applicable to all tritons, no exceptions to any college. that i know of at least.

how are the muir dorms and dining hall?

UCSD Alum, I have been accepted to Warren College and am majoring in Economics. I was just wondering how the writing classes are since I reallly dislike writing and it’s a requirement to graduate. Also, do you have any information on what the Entry level writing exam is like? Someone told me you can take it online?

does UCSD send out decision BY SNAIL MAIL? i still haven’t received it from them, but I received the ones from other UCs already

^ It sent the decision by mail about 1.5 weeks/2 weeks after the acceptance. Well, at least for me.

I received a small pamphlet from Muir saying I was accepted.. but all the info was for freshman students. I was like, Ok, Sweet… so i’m a transfer student.. wanna send me some info about that?

I got the pamphlet from Muir as well as a StudentLife pamphlet detailing housing and such. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t an acceptance letter from UCSD, just one from the college you got into.

Hello, I got accepted into ERC
and I was wondering…

How hard is it to actually get the oppportunity to study abroad!!!

Is it very competitive??

Hey guys - I checked out for a little so I’ll try to answer the questions that haven’t been addressed.

Lennerd -

No idea about Warren’s writing req’s. There are lots of engineers in that school if that’s any indicator. I’d suggest checking online or finding a warren student/grad.

hydralisks -

As I’m sure you can appreciate, it would be very uncool to give my buddy’s contact info out to someone I don’t know. If there’s a BioE major lurking, they might be able to help, otherwise I’d recommend walking over to the department on admitted students day and asking someone in the office. My guess is that it will be difficult to run the cost/benefit on the 5 year B.S./M.S. right now, but it’s not really a pressing decision. You are not sure what your goals will be in 3 years or even whether you’ll be qualified for the program. I’m sure you can find all the necessary info online re: minimum GPA requirements, etc.

Orchestra peeps:

I honestly don’t know anything about the orchestra. I’m one of the least talented musical people you’ll ever meet. Sorry…

Again - admitted students day or the website are the two places I immediately think of to gather the information you’re looking for.

Jessiegal -

ERC places (at least placed when I was studying abroad) more students abroad than any of the other colleges. There is some selection process, but it never struck me as very competitive. You need a decent GPA, but even the minimum is something like a 3.0, which, depending on your major, is not that hard to achieve. Some programs (Rome jumps out at me right now) are more difficult than others, because of the higher volume of students who wish to study there, but EAP is very good, and they can sit you down and explain everything once you’re at UCSD.

Also - UCSD on the whole has tons of students studying abroad; this is not an ERC-only phenomenon. I’m pretty sure (but don’t hold me to this) that we had the most in the UC system and one of the highest rates in the country. The EAP office right off of Library Walk can give everyone more details though.

Thanks for taking questions, UCSD ALUM.

Ok here’s my situation. I’m a transfer student from a CC and have been admitted into Roosevelt as a biochem major. Isn’t this a bad situation since ERC has a lot of GE requirements? I was hoping to just finish up my pre-pharmacy requirements, get a B.S., and apply to pharmacy school preferably in the shortest amount of time as possible. But with all those social sciences courses in the way, will this be difficult for me?

I’m not a good writer either, so wouldn’t attending ERC be difficult? I can get a good term paper/essay together, but it takes me 89485743 years to do so!

What are your thoughts on my situation? Should I transfer to another UCSD college, and how hard is it to do so?

Again, thank you!

Scout05 im in the same situation as you as an incoming freshman! except i got into Warren as a political science major when ERC seems like a better fit…i love writing and think their GEs would help in my goal to become a journalist! so idk i mean warren is a great college one of the best but im worried that their GEs would be useless to me! UCSD Alum would it be difficult to change colleges? Thanks!

I have a question…I was recently admitted as an undecided transfer and dropped a course prior to my admission, will they revoke my admission?

Hi UCSD Alum, thank you for taking the time to answer all these questions!
How much prestige does the Regents Scholarship carry on campus?
Do Regents students generally have an easier time getting into good labs or internships?
