<p>Im appealing UCSD and need help, so I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone or has been successful at appealing. If so, what was said in your appeal letter?</p>
<p>I don’t know if the process has changed, but last year UCSD had a form that you had to use to appeal your decision. If I remember correctly, it was difficult to find the form on their website. If you do not use the correct form, your appeal will not even be reviewed. It is an easy form to complete and includes space to write a short argument for why they should admit you. It limits the essay to a certain length- I believe it was around 250 words. Do not go over the word count!!! The purpose of the form is for you to submit a compelling NEW reason why they should admit you. Do not waste your time begging or telling them what a great fit you are. They want to see a completely new reason- something that was not considered in the original application- you have since won a huge award, you did not tell them that you were a foster child, you have a medical condition that was not discussed, etc. Last year, my son submitted both the essay that is required to stay on the wait-list (he was wait-listed) as well as the appeal form with-in a couple of days of decisions being released. He was accepted to the school about a week later on the basis of the appeal. He does have a medical condition that he did not discuss on the original application and he used that for the basis of his appeal. I do not know how often UCSD will admit on the basis of an appeal, but it is definitely worth trying!</p>

Call admissions if you can’t find it- I remember my son had a very hard time finding it. Good luck with your appeal and be sure to keep checking the portal for your decision.
