UCSD Appeal

I got rejected from UCSD but i want to appeal because I think I should have gotten in. I know you need new and compelling info but here are my stats. Could I appeal on the basis that my GPA went up and that my grandma recently had back surgery and I am the one that has to take care of her most of the time which makes it really hard to get stuff done and I want to stay near by to continue helping (i live 10 minutes away).

I thought I had a chance but I really need advice on what to do. I am really confused.

I don’t think your appeal will work because you had probably included everything in the previous application. The UC’s are all about scores. Your AP’s are all over the place and your SAT isn’t competitive enough. Your volunteer activities, are also all over the place and they should include those that were only completed in high school. Additionally, your on-site high school activities are very limited-Sports teams? Clubs on campus? Such that your current activities appear narrow in scope. What have you done outside your culture and comfort zone?

I don’t think it can hurt. I mean they have a limit of 250 words - plead your case and see what happens.
