Hi, so UCSD requested that I mail them my parents’ green cards as proof of residence? I’m a citizen, so I didn’t have to do anything myself. None of the other UCs or other colleges asked for their green cards. Is this normal for all colleges? Is this just something UCSD does?

Hmm, I’m not at all an expert in this area, but that sounds unusual. I assume they mean copies, right? It also sounds like this might be so you get in state tuition. I might give them a call and ask what kind of copies are acceptable.
To be clear, I find it odd that they’re asking for your parents’ green cards at all, so the call is also to find our more about the request, to make sure they know you’re a citizen, etc.
Did you state that your parents are non-citizens? We are in-state, and 3rd generation US citizens, and we got a notification that we might have to confirm status if accepted.
