I ended up getting my decision before the site went down. This is what myapplication said:

Thank you for your application to UC San Diego for Fall Quarter 2014. After a thorough review of your application, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission at this time. However, as an exceptional applicant, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to be considered for admission, should space become available after May 1. This waitlist offer is available to a limited number of students and is not a guarantee of admission.

We cannot predict whether you will receive an offer of admission by being on the waitlist. To learn more about our waitlist process, please take some time to carefully review our Waitlist FAQs, which also lists the mandatory deadlines.

You have until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, to reserve your place on the waitlist online by submitting a brief 200-word statement telling us why you would like to attend UC San Diego. If you choose to accept a place on our waitlist, we will notify you of our final application decision as soon as we know whether we can make additional offers of admission. This will be between May 1 and no later than June 1.

Anyone have info on how successful waitlisted people were last year?

in 2012, none of the people on the waitlist were accepted. As for last year, I think a few were able to get in, although I don’t have an exact percentage.

Well portals back up and got officially wait listed. Does anyone know what are the previous history of acceptance from wait list at UCSD. I know that either last year or 2 years ago not a single person from wait list got accepted.

I want to do pre-med, and most things I looked up rank UCSD over UCD in pre-med. Is this true? It seems that UCD’s pre-med and biology program are actually pretty good too but I’m not sure how good they are compared to UCSD.

Hey guys, I got waitlisted too… I’m just really confused as to the reason because my scores and everything put me right in the averages for admitted students. I’m not a bio or engineering major either. Like what?

Honestly, I thought I would’ve gotten accepted even though my test scores are sub-par and I’m from out-of-state, but I got into Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Davis, and Santa Cruz. Davis and Riverside gave me scholarship money. So I guess being waitlisted isn’t too bad. I just hope this doesn’t foreshadow anything bad for Berkeley and LA.

Got waitlisted from SD. I heard that you can call and ask why they chose not to offer admission? Anyone know if this is true?
Accepted to UCR with scholarship but that doesn’t mean much. Rejected from SC which I was verrry surprised about… Thought I would definitely get in seeing as my GPA is higher and my test scores are waaay higher than the average. Guess I wasn’t the type of applicant they were looking for.
Waiting to hear back from SB and LA ( I already know UCLA is not happening) .
Got accepted to USD as well.
I’m also an OOS applicant. I live in VA

I was waitlisted for first choice Molecular Biology and second choice Microbiology.
Does anyone know if they consider your second choice major before deciding to waitlist?

Major choice does not effect college admission thats why you see some students who wanted engineering as undeclared majors they were good enough to get into UCSD but not necessarily good enough for the impacted engineering major (all other majors aren’t impacted :D)
