I want to congratulate everyone who was accepted to UCSD!!! For all of us that were rejected, we will end up where we are supposed to be–it just was not UCSD. I am not really upset by this decision because honestly, I was not invested in this school. I am happy that people who really want to attend UCSD are accepted. Good luck to everyone in the rest of this process :)

State: CA

Honestly, I really wasn’t expecting to get in since my major is so competitive, but now that I have, I AM SO EXCITED.
This is the best surprise ever. :)

waitlisted…disappointed :(

Both of my twin daughters were accepted to Muir, one for psychology and the other for theater. I don’t remember all of their exact scores, but I think they had a 4.2 and 4.3 UC GPA respectively. One had a 2110 SAT and the other 2170. One has taken 11 AP classes, the other 9. Both did volunteer work with special needs kids, but nothing unusual. The one who got in for psych wrote a very personal essay about her health problems which I think is what might have made a difference. The other wrote an interesting essay about the contrast between watching her sister being unable to eat for a few years and wasting away and about her own struggles with body image and struggle to avoid an eating disorder.

The psychology daughter and I will be coming to Triton day. The other is not interested in attending UCSD. If anyone out there is coming to Triton day and is in Muir, let me know!

^don’t be, shelly1. Where else did you apply?

all the UCs except UCSC, UCR, and UCM…i got into UCD and UCSB so far

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Personal statements
[] Weaknesses: SAT II, AP Scores, extracurriculars don’t look too great at a glance
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My grades took a huge dive, going from a 4.8 in junior year down to a 4.1 second semester(2 B’s, 1 C). I was extremely sick, though, missing ~2 months of school, which I did explain. My test scores are pretty horrendous, but I committed about 25+ hours a week to colorguard while maintaining a respectable GPA, and picked up a job. I think my essays had the biggest impact though, as they showed a lot of my strong will to keep fighting even though I have been greatly disadvantaged due to physical and mental illnesses.
[/ul]General Comments: Wish I had put Warren first over Sixth, but very happy overall. Also, computer science is impacted, so I got my alternate major. Grades are not everything! Congratulations to those who got in, and good luck to everyone else waiting. :)

Decision: Accepted - Marshall

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: ECs.
[] Weaknesses: GPA and ACT.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/li][/ul]General Comments: This was a relief after being rejected from Stanford EA. My strong and unique ECs and very good Personal Statement got me in, I think. Parchment.com gave me just a 32% chance of getting in, so I am very happy right now, although UC Berkeley and UCLA are still my top choices.
