[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: strengths, plus personal statements.[/li][/ul]General Comments:
I feel blessed to have been accepted to Muir (my first choice), and to have been given the honor of the Regent’s Scholarship. While UCSD is definitely a good school, and I’m glad to be able to have this college as a choice, I don’t plan on attending (already accepted by Berkeley, waiting on UCLA). That being said, congratulations to all those who do plan on attending! And to those who have been rejected, good luck as you wait on the rest of the college decisions to come out!

Decision: Accepted (TMC)

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: test scores, GPA
[] Weaknesses: I think I wrote one of my personal statements the day before…
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/denied: I’ve never understood why this question exists - aren’t the two above enough?
[/ul]General Comments: congrats to all accepted!
I actually wanted Muir rather than Marshall, but I accidentally put Marshall as my first choice. (I’m pretty sure I submitted my UC application the night it was due, lol.)
I’m a little confused that I got Regents at UCSB and not SD, but I probably won’t attend a UC anyway as I’ve got a fairly good offer from a small LAC. *shrug

@Cherryblossom71 Congrats on your acceptance! One question - how did you get not accepted already from Stanford and MIT? Did you apply EA? Based on your stats etc, definitely their loss!

Thanks, falconflyer! That made me feel good  I applied EA Stanford and was rejected, and I was rejected from MIT RD. In hindsight, I didn’t do a particularly good job presenting my EC’s on the MIT app. For Stanford, I think I didn’t demonstrate a strong enough interest in one area/major, and there was also another Asian girl who applied as a legacy from the other school in my district and got in so… I’m still a little bummed about Stanford, which was my top choice, but I’m happy with the offers I have so far :)

Did you apply to UCSD/where else have you applied?

Does anyone know anything about appealing? My brother was rejected from UCSD with an engineering major but wishes to appeal.

He had a 3.7 weighted GPA but his grades show improvement from sophomore year (his worst year) to now. And he became an Eagle scout recently along with making Varsity baseball.

So how does he appeal and is it worth it? Will he have a chance?

I’m just wondering. If you guys can help.

Sorry to add to my last post.
Act score of 32
Sat II: us history 790, Math II 690

@cherryblossom71 - Actually I am just a parent who is trying to get the lay of the land for when my kid applies. It is tons of fun to see all you accomplished students. The more I learn the better I will understand where he chooses to apply.

[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b] Good Luck!! I am not going to attend UCSD most probs. Probably Berkley/UCLA (I hope to get in) or any Ivy I applied to.

@evansl
“its hard to find a student like me”

What do you mean by that?

@photolover12 just that from what I read Colleges are looking to build a class and they want students from all walks of life. though my scores are low, I bring to the class experience from Being an International speaker for TED , Google and various other universities and running a startup with over 1,000,000 users. How many students can write that in their college applications.

Not to boast here , but i get paid in thousands of dollars for my talks and advice I provide.
I answer your questions $99/month on https://voomly.com/evanluthra</a>
Now If i was to go to a university - I obviously wouldnt charge my friends and peers and would love to share my experience.

So yeah - it matters what kind of background you have. Mine is just a lot diffrent and hard to find than an average student.
