@jlev96‌ According to various threads online to get into CS from undeclared you have to take lower division CSE courses get good grades in them and earn units. There are certain periods that you can change your major to an impacted major. At that time if your grades are higher and you have more units than others wanting to study CS you get in. That’s what I’ve understood. There is NO guarantee that you will get a spot in CS though.

UC GPA 4.38
Moderate ECs including league basketball and Buddhist temple service, etc. (small things)

Personal statements I felt were strongest.

My question is for people already accepted under engineering majors who might have knowledge on switching majors (@groverrohan). How easy/hard is it to switch from aerospace to mechanical, and what do I need to do or how should I perform at. Thanks.

@Shananigans‌ Congrats on your acceptance! To my knowledge, what major you are enrolled in does not affect your switching to an impacted major, not even within the Jacobs School or the MAE department. The process will be the same for you as anyone else, and I think the MAE site outlines it best here: http://mae.ucsd.edu/sites/mae.ucsd.edu/files/FAQs%20MAE%20Impaction.pdf

Switching majors requires a high GPA but is definitely not impossible. Let me know if you have any other questions!
PS sick picture
