UCSD Class of 2019 Decisions/Discussion

I got into Revelle Undeclared-Physical Sciences. Any Revelle folks out there?! All I’m seeing is Muir, Roosevelt, Sixth, etc. I’ve heard bad stuff about Revelle, the most unappealing aspect being the social life there. I’m not a nerd, and I actually NEED friends to enjoy and get through college LOL

SAT 2090 (best sitting composite)
ACT: 32 composite
UW GPA: 3.86

@ADY360‌ where’d you hear that Revelle isn’t social? I think the way Revelle is laid out makes it one of the most social colleges here. 64 Degrees, the new dining hall, was actually designed to improve interaction and I think it worked. The 64 courtyard and Revelle Plaza are great places to run into people, hang out, or toss around a Frisbee. There are also loads of outgoing, friendly people (plenty who aren’t, but I think the vast majority are). It’s also reasonably nice-looking in terms of buildings and people (my roommates and I agree that it’s second only to ERC in both categories). If you’re looking for kickbacks/parties, there’s always something going on even within Revelle itself, as long as you know enough people. The HUM sequence is challenging, but honestly so are all the other writing programs (HUM just has more readings and more classes). A lot of what you hear online about Revelle being the worst is unfounded–if those reviews were posted before 2009, we’ve gotten a new dining hall, 2 remodeled dorm buildings, a market that’s way bigger, new courtyards and bike racks, and year’s worth less of GEs (no more area of focus). I wouldn’t worry about being in Revelle–I think it’s awesome and most of my friends on the 2018 and 2019 Facebook groups will agree. Welcome to UCSD!

PS UC Socially Dead is only as true as you want it to be. There’s 30K people here; each one who puts him/herself out there has a blast.

Just got an email from UCSD!

Is it possible once admitted to change houses?

^ it’s possible but very hard. You have to show them that staying in your college will delay your graduation.
