UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@gonewiththeair I called back twice and to no avail.

Wouldn’t it just suck if someone pranks you? I’m just impatiently (and hoping) I get a call.

I called back twice and left a message! I believe the person who called me was someone called Cindy?? from Muir College, UCSD

Is the calling completely random? Or is it in alphabetical order or something? I heard that they call historically underrepresented people first and after March 6 they start calling others, but I’m not sure  I really want that call!

@mc1682 I think it’s fairly random…I’m pretty certain I wouldn’t fall under the category of historically underrepresented people, so I think they’re mixing everyone from that to Regents up and calling randomly

I really want to get a phone call but I’m not sure if I’ll be accepted. Will a 4.07 UC GPA and a 33 ACT cut it? I have really good ECs (300+ hours) and good essays but UCSD is so competitive…

@mc1682 I don’t think there is a specific order in which people are called. Also, many people who don’t get a call get accepted so don’t worry!

@jackisawesome Those dates are for freshmen. For transfers, here are the dates. I’m literally copying and pasting from Ms. Sun’s website here: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■/home/uc-transfer-application-timeline/#goodps

@wandersaur That’s what me and my friend were thinking! My friend was really bummed out but after talking to her brother who is in engineering regents at UCSB, she found out that they generally don’t accept unless there is a likelihood of one going to the university. I applied kind of as a safety (although who even knows anymore), so that is what me and my friend are thinking as well

@jackisawesome What do you think would qualify as giving a hint that there is a likelihood of someone going to UCSB? Registering for the Chancellor’s Reception?

Suspicion of an individual or suspicion of acceptance to the university? @frenchtoastlover

Hey guys do you think I would qualify for the call? I got rejected from cal poly slo today and I’m starting to get nervous.
GPA 4.15
ACT 26
Hispanic Female
Major Electrical Engineering
Apart of the Lgbt community
200+ hours of EC

Hopefully the VIP tours meant an acceptance 0_0. @sd2020

Idk but I really hope so @andyv123

My stats:
GPA for UC: 4.2
SAT: 2170
White male
Biopsych
LGBT
A bunch of pretty large ECs related to major and/or interests
Pretty good essays

praying

Also got denied for SLO; but I’ve heard that a lot of higher-end applicants were denied to increase applicant yield  definitely sucks

@jackisawesome I guess I made the comment in response to this line:

she found out that they generally don’t accept unless there is a likelihood of one going to the university

Sorry, not sure how to quote haha.

Thanks!

@jackisawesome Did you change your major from Neuroscience to Biophych in like a day? haha.

I really think so @IBGuy101. I know nothing is guaranteed and one shouldn’t be over-confident. But, so far the UCs have been kind to me.

Nope haha @IBGuy101 For UCSD. my major is biopsych, but for UCLA, my major is neuro. I have diff majors for diff schools (either those two or bio or psych) so I may have made a mistake somewhere along the lines of a comment or two

We need to sleep guys. xD almost 11PM we need energy for tomorrow.

@jackisawesome what major did you apply for at SLO? I am quite similar to you but asian female and got in with bio sci.
