UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@terrible i really hope there has been rejections cause that would in a weird way give me hope that there are more acceptances coming up :confused:

I actually don’t think there have been rejections yet because if you search ā€œucsd rejectedā€ on twitter. There’s no one actually claiming that they have been full-on rejected, only assuming. I think that if people did get rejected, there would prob. be some that post it on social media? I still have the march 30 decision :confused: idk why but i actually do have a gut feeling that there will be more acceptances!

@sarale I don’t think people want to post that they’ve been rejected…

@sarale There will be more acceptances. The claim that ā€œallā€ the acceptances were released today is BS. How does anyone know they have released/completed their 30-40% acceptance rate already if the sample they know about is college confidential? Perhaps, the next batch will be acceptances mixed with waitlists or rejections. I have so many friends who are super qualified to get into SD, yet they haven’t gotten their decision yet.

@CharmedKS1997: Being rejected has not deterred any posters from all the other decision threads. Just look at UCD’s thread results from yesterday.

@CharmedKS1997 On previous years’ forums, there have been a plethora of reject posts.

If actual rejections were released on the March 11 batch, it would be very unlikely (in my opinion) that not even one person would post about his or her rejection

@unconfidentially I agree. I thought it was weird too how no one posted their rejections because I’ve seen plenty of stats thread where people posted rejections.

Maybe there was a miscommunication, people might think the March 30 was a rejection since they do not see an acceptance letter.

@hotwater98 i really hope that you are right! (I’m sure you are) It only makes sense. Honestly, I feel as if some people that are still waiting right now have extremely high stats, some even higher than those admitted.

People are not going to post about rejections to UCSD. I’m sure people have gotten rejected. But if you got rejected, would you post it? People post rejections from Harvard, Stanford, etc. because of the low acceptance rate and they know they usually have high stats and are well qualified so they don’t care about rejection. But all in all… no one will post their rejection about UCSD. UCSD is a very good school, don’t get me wrong, but it has nearly a 33% acceptance rate so people rather not post their rejections for a college that is fairly less competitive

Apparently admissions, wait lists, and rejections were posted by students last year on 3/13

This year, barely anyone posted about a rejection (did anyone get wait listed?)

This may be an indicator that there could be more batches coming (just a speculation)

I remember seeing a post earlier saying the person’s friend was rejected

only one batch got released yesterday and none today right?

i don’t think they mean 5,900 were ACCEPTED. They mean 5,900 ENROLLED. Way more than 5,900 were accepted, but not everyone actually decides to go there. So, the acceptance rate is still around 40%.

Honestly, I am currently sitting in my room crying out of jealousy. I just want a decision already- this weekend so far has been pure torture and I just want it to end. If a UCSD admissions counsellor or anyone that works in the UCSD admissions department sees this, please just release the decisions before we all lose hope.

@jackisawesome cheer up! All we really can do is wait; we don’t have any other choice. So we just gotta ride it out. We’ve made it this far (since November!), I think we can wait a few more days or maybe another week. Find something that you like to occupy your time. Just know, many people are in the same boat and feel the exact same way right now.

@jackisawesome I agree haha, it’s a really stressful time for all the applicants who haven’t heard back - especially since we’ve been working for years for this one letter. But time will come! :slight_smile: Just try to stay as positive as you can and look at happy things! I hope for the best for all of us~

When this is all over, we should make a list of theories that were debunked, like the coding and generated email thing. It would help next year’s applicants so much and save them from insanity.

@latestmagnolia I got mine a few hours ago - I got in!!

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted!

Any international students here??

xx

Just got accepted into ERC as a Chemistry major!
I’m so bad at writing… I just hope there’s someway for me to change the college I got into… ANY ADVICE?

@jajxn The only way you can change your college is by demonstrating to them that it would delay your graduation to stay in your current one. Good luck and congrats on getting in :).
