UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@jackisawesome hopefully we’ll join the chat group soon aha

@jackisawesome I am rooting for you! Hang in there. I’m sure you’ll get in a college which would be perfect for you.

Hey does anyone know how UCSD is releasing their admissions? When should I expect to hear from them? Is it by last name, major, or academic standing (honors, regular, rejection)?
I’ve read some posts where people say that if you got the “March 30th”, you’ve been rejected which I highly doubt. I have also heard about the “housing trick” which sounds kind of bizarre.

@Monetha Nobody really knows what UCSD will do now. They released a major batch on 3/11 and called the top 30% of admits during the last few weeks. Nobody on this thread has reported their own rejection. I suggest you page back to previous discussions on this thread if you want to see the speculations.

@crowlady actually, some people did report their rejections. So acceptances and rejections were sent out on March 11.

This whole thing is kind of ridiculous :-S nobody really knows what’s going on

Awww thanks y’all <3 @10s4life @SD2020 @freakingout98

ikr! @freakingout98 I am just happy that Monday is in exactly 11 hours and 57 minutes (I’m in CA, so PST)

I don’t know if anyone said this but ucsd sent out an email like a day after I checked my portal saying that their decision for me was up

@preetk8 and @10s4life People reported that their friends had been rejected, but nobody on this thread actually posted a rejection.

@CharmedKS1997 I think that’s because they only sent out a few rejections

I think if there were actual rejections someone here would have reported one firsthand. So far no one has.

@Momof7thgrader That is true, but I feel like too many people from this forum haven’t gotten the decision. Also, a lot of people could have felt embarrassed and mad about not getting accepted and just didn’t post anything because they were mad how they weren’t accepted. At that point, people would be careless about others and post their rejections…

the housing site created email for my Son is: first name initial, middle name initial, entire last name @ucsd.edu. he still has the March 30 statement on his my application portal.

@chuckncole all applicants have an automatically made email. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean anything.

@chuckncole same format and I was accepted Friday.

It seems like sooooooo many people got in already. All my friends got in and some people I thought who wouldn’t got in. I know a few people who got in with 1500-1700 SATs and not so spectacular classes/grades. I remember reading last years thread and so many people had spectacular stats and got rejected, I wonder if this attributed to the 5,000 more CA students that the UC system has to accept? This year a lot of people got in and I honestly believe they would’ve thought they were a shoe in for rejects (sounds mean, but true) I thought UCSD was kind of selective?

@Andrew545 I think some people posted that they were accepted but never had the email, and others had the email but weren’t accepted yet. Either way, the email thing has been proven false :frowning:

@seemoore I would think UCSD would be more selective, but it seems that all the UCs are kinda wacky in their acceptances this year–especially UC Davis. Everything seems unpredictable now :frowning:

yep i havent heard of a rejection yet, only acceptances and waitlists.
