UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@eric2020 Could you link me?

Regents= eligible to receive scholarhips and admission to honors college
URM= under-represented minority
@collegecurious29

but am I getting considered for these with these early acceptances

@jackisawesome *early acceptance from ucsd

@jackisawesome *early acceptance from ucsd

URM is a status, so nothing to be considered with that except for a possible scholarship from UC. As for the regents, I believe they tell you that on the phone. Not all people who receive a call are accepted as regent students. @collegecurious29

So if I dont receive a call by tomorrow, I definitely will not get the regents, right?

I wouln’t say definitely; but, you probably won’t if you don’t get a call tomorrow @Atim10

Don’t worry guys we still have an entire week left of the callings.

Do you guys know if UC’s usually each offer around the same financial package? I got my UCR one and I have to pay 4k (9k w/o Chancellor’s scholarship) I’m guessing if I get into any other UC it would be around 9k?

@IBGuy101 Thought it was March 1-6. :-/

@dankdylan

The Early Calling Campaign is the first of the series and will take place March 1-6, 2016. Faculty and staff are asked to call Regents Scholars and historically underrepresented students who have been admitted to your department, program or college. By participating in this important yield event, you will be the first person to share with these students the exciting news of their admission to UC San Diego! Following the Early Calling Campaign, current UC San Diego students will call admitted students to invite them to Triton Day and campus overnight programs; the following week UC San Diego alumni will share their Triton experiences with admitted students who are not contacted in the first two campaigns.

URM female and I have not received a call, should I be concerned? Is this the only way that URMs will be notified and only march 1-6, right?

March 1-6 is just the phase where faculty will be calling. Students will continue to call all next week. They most likely won’t get to everyone on the list before the portals are updated on the 11th.

@IBGuy101 @MelloG So once March 6th passes, will current UCSD students basically call as many people as they can who have been admitted OR just Regents, URMs, and top 30% of admits?

UCs don’t offer the same financial package for Regents @dankdylan. I applied to 5 of the UCs: UCSB offered $6k, UCI offered $4k, and UCB offered $2,500.

@blessupman I believe it will still be URM, Regents and the top 30%. From older threads it seems they won’t even get to all of those by the end of next week. The vast majority of those accepted will find out when the portals are updated.

Ok, so even though I got the postcard in the mail, I also have had my phone disconnected until yesterday. Do you think it’s possible they still might call today?

Yes, I would think that they are calling today as they said March 1-6 (today is the 6th). Calls will probably go out til the 11th as well @collegecurious29

Anyone in Los Angeles receive the invitation to the lunch/dinner for UCSD?
