UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

Just got off the phone with UC San Diego. ACCEPTED into Electrical Engineering (Warren)!!! Did not expect this!

@granolatacos Congrats! Didn’t expect they would call this late.

Congratulations to everyone who got the call :slight_smile:
Sigh, I don’t know if they even tried to call me or not.

Ugh, everytime I look in this thread I want to cry because I haven’t gotten any calls yet… A lot of people in my school got accepted by UCSD, and they don’t really have very good stats at all. I got a VIP Tour Email a couple months ago, but I couldn’t attend to any of the tours since they were in school hours and my parents didn’t want me to skip it, so I’m kind of worried they took my absence as lack of interest…

Hi guys, as someone who’s attending UCSD right now and was accepted last year – I didn’t get a call, but I knew quite few people that did. It was pretty nerve wracking but don’t stress!! You guys will be fine regardless of the outcomes :slight_smile: I really didn’t think I’d make it in but here I am. Best of luck to you all!

@faristan Your in. Don’t worry.

Well I didn’t know this thread existed until the very last minute. Anyway, good luck to all of you, hope ya’ll get into the school you wanted. The wait is killing me, UCSD is my top choice, but my SAT is way too low.

@granolatacos Congratulations! You’re gonna love Warren! Hope you decide to come here!

@faristanCollege decisions are honestly sometimes unpredictable. But if yours are above them, then there’s a good chance you will get in! Also, I’m pretty that not attending a tour would affect anything. Don’t worry!

@Awong327 I didn’t have the highest ACT/SAT score but still managed to get in. There’s hope for you :slight_smile: (and besides, scores aren’t everything!)

@tyranitarus Actually, UCSD does not accept by major. People can still get into the school but not into their major. If that is the case, they will be offered either their second choice major or undeclared. The major they put down as their first choice has no bearing on whether or not they get into UCSD.

@gonewiththeair thank you for your correction – I made an assumption because I hadn’t really heard about this within my peers. I’ve only heard about that happening with waitlisted students.

@gonewiththeair Which is actually really scary because you don’t want to end up in the situation where you get in as an undeclared and hope to switch to something like CS. A very dangerous and scary hole.

@tyranitarus
Do you know the SAT range for CS/Engineering at UCSD?

ugh I hope, but if you look at my previous chance me, it’s really low.

I am so jealous of all you who got a reception invite!!! I got the call but I wasn’t special enough to be invited to the reception. Congrats to all… you must be truly special!!!

@potatoheadhala I’m actually not sure, sorry :frowning:
@IBGuy101 YES, THIS. A number of my friends applied for Engineering/CS and are stuck being undeclared because they can’t transfer into the program, since the required classes are highly competitive.
@Awong327 your GPA doesn’t look bad at all though! Plus you have quite a few extracurriculars (hey, I was in marching band too!!) but I can’t be completely sure how much UCSD weighs test scores.

I just hope the reception means an acceptance

Haha anyone that received reception / VIP Tour has no reason to be worried. It’s people like me that didnt hear anything from them that should be concerned :).

@Andrew545 I’m kinda stumped why kids who was invited for the VIP Tour wasn’t also invited to the reception.

@SD2020 Maybe the location of where you live? The receptions are in LA, Bay Area, and Riverside right?
