@Andrew545
I haven’t received anything either. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for the big red R
@SD2020 I think it is just a matter of time. I got mine but at a completely different time than those who got the LA reception (I have Riverside reception on the 20th). So some of yall might get yours later on!
Were the portals updated for people that received calls?
@IBGuy101
Thanks! I hope I get in!
No. Portal was not updated. DD got a call today.
@mierdil I live in SD - you would think they’ll have one right where they are located. Besides, I believe @IBGuy101 mentioned there is a SD reception. Can someone confirm this? Anyone receive a SD reception invite???
I hope so @IBGuy101! I am right now feeling very un-VIP.
when you get the call, does it say it’s from San Diego or does it say it’s unknown/private?
@IBGuy101 I completely agree! Impacted majors are very difficult to switch into at UCSD, so if you’re accepted as undeclared and choose to attend you should have a backup major that isn’t impacted.
@dk0864 It could be from either, or from a non San Diego area code as students, faculty, and alumni make calls and they don’t all have San Diego area numbers.
@gonewiththeair Just wondering, how would you know if it’s an impacted major or not?
@SD2020 From past posts I would say that there is a SD reception. I have heard about 4 so far: Riverside, LA, Bay Area, and SD. There could be more who knows.
@wandersaur Here’s a list of currently impacted majors: https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/majors-minors/capped-majors.html
If a major isn’t on this list it is not impacted.
Of course this list is subject to change so you would need to keep checking back.
I’m done with UCSD… I know I’ll just be disappointed! I’m moving on and will now start lurking on the UCLA forum.
@SD2020 Don’t give up yet. I’m sure they will accept you. Remember we still got like a week of calling left and Mega Friday!
This may cheer up some of you. http://universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/admissions-source-school.
The site includes your school’s previous year admitted stats like headcounts and average GPA. You can make an inference based on previous years depend on your school and such. It’s kinda cool stats and maybe take your mind off the waiting for a bit.
You can also select different UC Campus by scrolling through under Campus by the way.
@SD2020 I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised when Friday rolls around. No call doesn’t mean rejection, and we’re only seeing the top 30%-ish of admits right now (+URM and other things).
@knguyen1297 In my school it looks like 20 African Americans applied to UC and 10 got into a UC. None from UCSD lol what…
@SD2020 and @ruetherford I did the math on this. Approx only 9% of applicants will receive calls, and SD accepts 30% of applicants. Plus, based on what I heard from my school district, a few (or even one) students per school will get the call so don’t get discouraged.
@knguyen1297 thanks for the link! I’m shocked at the results on it lol. I mean i know i go to a competitive high school but 65% of the people @ my school who applied got in ;o
@IBGuy101 I think it’s either none or not reported but i believe the latter.
