UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

@ZHB1999 @jewishmother Hey, do both of you/your kids have the generated email in the UCSD portal?

@wormholes which email are you referring to? The all access tour one? I’ll ask. All I know about is the paper letter.

@ZHB1999 Just the email address that’s visible when you login to the UCSD portal, choose off-campus housing in the drop down housing menu, then click students on that page, login again, then click “List myself as an available roommate.” Then, underneath name, there may be an email ID in the box, with the format lastnamefirstinitial@ucsd.edu. Thank you!

@wormholes I was looking at the 2020 thread, and it seems as if that email doesn’t matter anymore. I’m guessing (though I could be wrong) that UCSD has fixed the housing trick. Last year, I believe some people who didn’t have the email got accepted, and some who did have it were rejected.

@poliscihopeful7 Oh okay. What leads you to think they fixed it/it doesn’t matter anymore?

@poliscihopeful7 wait nvm, i just understood your post! so you’re saying that last year both people who had and didn’t have the email got accepted and rejected, right? i think that’s what you’re trying to say, which would make sense; this email thing seems a little weird. thanks

My D didn’t get any communication from UCSD in Jan/Feb 2014, but later she was accepted into CS major and her 1st choice of college, as well as all the other UCs.

@splp12345 That gives me hope! Let’s hope that no correspondence could still mean an admittance letter in 2017, too.

@splp12345 Thank you for taking the time to post that.

Does anyone know when Regents for UCSD comes out?

@emli8100 i think they notify you of regents when they start releasing decisions, so in march

Did you guys get UCSD portal info yet?

@emli8100 You just need your UC Application ID (which you can get by going back into the UC application), and your email, DOB and city of birth. You go here https://a4.ucsd.edu/tritON/Authn/UserPassword and select “first time user” - no additional portal info needed.

I’ve read a ton of different things, are your chances better in or out of state? Does anyone know for sure

@leaf1234 In but a couple years ago they accepted a lot of OOS students because $$$

Has anyone from out of state received a brochure and a “thank you for applying” letter from UCSD? Is this a positive sign so far?

@KevinHuu No I have not. Have you?

@KevinHuu and if you did, when did you get it?

Two days ago I received a big envelop with a “#1 Public University UC San Diego” nice self promotion brochure, and a letter “I’m so glad you have applied to UC San Diego … …”.

If you haven’t received a letter or a brochure or anything (like me) don’t panic! I’m pretty sure they don’t send brochures to EVERY applicant who they plan on accepting. Just relax and remember you did your best.
