Got denied from my 1st choice major and my second choice major, but got accepted as undeclared (L&S) lol

@BunnyBlue, which website mentioned the lottery process? My son is in similar situation. He got into his second choice which is not as desirable as CS.

Thanks in advance!

Warren

GPA: 4.44
SAT (new): 1440

Congrats all who got in! And hey, anyone else in warren?

did you get notification via mail or you checked your portal? @daisieswhatever

UCSD single sign on is not working

Rejected.

ACT:29
UC GPA: 4.1
Solid essays
Lots of volunteering
Lots of ecs, vps of multiple clubs, varsity sports, etc.

@priym999 i checked my portal. No mail for me, actually not even an email notifying me of results coming out.

@MisterStudentt majority of transfer decisions have not came out so we won’t know for awhile

Accepted with alternate major of Economics. Rejected for CS.

ACT: 33
SAT: 1800 (Hate that I had to send this tragedy. But it was all okay in the end I suppose.)
UC GPA: No idea. I’m gonna go on a whim and say 4.2.
SAT subject tests: Math II 740 Chemistry 720

I talked with my friend, if you want to switch majors to neuroscience, chem, biochem it is easy, but its hard for engineering. Dont worry if you are undeclared and want biochem, neuroscience majorss

Accepted
Major: Sociology- Science and Medicine at Muir
Sat: 1240
Act: 26
GPA UW: 3.75
These stats are pretty low but excellent personal essays on struggles (first gen, single mom, low income, etc.). For those who are looking at this post for next year admissions know that personal essays have a big role on so do your best!

Accepted!
Computer Science, Sixth College
International

SAT: 2240
SAT Subject: Math2(800), Chem(800), Phy(800)
UC GPA: Can’t say for sure, about 3.8-3.9

Accepted!

Major: Undeclared - Humanities at Muir
SAT: 1950
GPA UW: 4.09

Due to my situation, I’m quite surprised I got in! I think I want to change my major to Sociology, but recently I’ve been having second thoughts and thinking about Biology. It’s a capped major so I doubt I’ll have much chance but perhaps I could try! Need to wait on SB, LA, and B to decide.

Decision: Accepted (CSE, Warren)

Objective:

SAT (new SAT): 1490 (760 M, 730 EBRW)
SAT II: 740 Physics, 800 Math II, 800 Chem
GPA - Not applicable (international), but above average grades
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): lol none

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):Not all that great really - participated in some minor competitions, founded a club in school. I also talked about some more activities (drama and some sports) which I was only mildly active in.
Volunteer/Community service: 1 year
Essays (rating 1-10, details): Worked hard on these and I think they were really good
Other: Some academic and merit awards

Applied for Financial Aid?: No
Intended Major: Computer engineering
International: Yes
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Female

Reflection:

Strengths: SAT and SAT II scores I guess, essays
Weaknesses: ECs
Why you think you were accepted: I have absolutely no idea. It seems very random and seeing some of the stats on CC, I was fairly certain I would be rejected. Being accepted gives me hope for some of my dream universities!
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted Purdue, UIUC, UC Davis.

Comments: Sell yourself. Put in anything you were a part of, anything at all - even if it is minor (don’t exaggerate it though). Also, put work into your essays. Almost all my essays were about experiences that were really minor, but helped realise something significant.

lol did anybody get into/applied to sixth college?
