UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

@angelicluna99 I just got invited as well. I’m trying to decide if it’s really worth it. It seems more like a social event than anything productive.

@angelicluna99 Got the same email! No idea whether everyone in the area received it.
It sounds like the UCSB Chancellor’s Reception, which, though very rad, was probably more helpful to me because I’ve never visited UCSB campus before.
@RoonilWazlib99 If you’ve visited ucsd before, then going might not particularly help you. (love your username btw!!!)

Received on in OC. Not going.

@mintchipmagic thank you!! i’m planning on going to triton day, so hopefully that will be a lot more fruitful than the reception

What is the process for switching major from nano engineering to Computer Science and Engineering.? how hard/easy it is?

@msreddy Does not matter what major you are at now. Txf to CSE is gonna be based on lottery so it’s pure luck. My guess: 20% or less if even other engineering majors want to switch. BTW, what’s wrong with nano engineering?

ACCEPTED
Major: Economics
Warren College

@drakonus yeah I was having problems with that too. They emailed back when they tried to fix it but it didn’t work, they said to email them (the idea email) with your PID, full name, and the track you applied for (just apply for SIAPS and then change it later).

Jeez,

Have any transfers got their decisions yet? I heard they start coming out now (beginning Mid March) for transfer students. Even though UCSD isn’t top of the list I’m a bit nervous now. >_<’

@BoredEngineer Yeah, some of us have heard back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/1947836-ucsd-fall-2017-transfer-thread-p13.html

@LynAmmo

Hi,

Thank you for responding. It seems the first wave was for the top students.

Can someone let us know if it is admitted as "undeclared " , how much chance to get into engineering college? Thanks!

With so many open houses on the same weekend - UCSD, UCD, UCSB and SLO, I think the receptions are a good way for UCSD to connect with prospective students who may want to attend a different open house April 7-9.

@oscarmom1 From what I’ve seen and read, slim to none.

I got waitlisted for computer science, does anyone know the chances of getting in?

When will the admit package come in the mail?

@oscarmom1 as far as I know, chances are close to zero, unless you can take all required major prep with A (not even A-). Last year’s cutoff for declaring an engineering major was 4.0 in major prep. Engineering classes are always full, and as an undeclared you will get the lowest registration priority for these. So even if you are dedicated enough, you might simply not get the classes you need.

@oscarmom1 student must have been admitted to college of engineering as undeclared …right…
Its only a major change not a college change …right…

@transmitter2342 My D received her package on Monday, 3/13. We are in Los Angeles. The admission letter was dated 3/7.
