I’m sure they get an email - but they update the portal with the acceptance before they send you an email
So the only UCs that have accepted in state off of the wait list are UCSB and UCB, right? Seems delayed for all of the schools.

@lkg4answers I thought I had seen and instate kid post that they got in from the ucsd waitlist, but when I went back to look, I wasn’t able to find the comment. Anyone else recall that? I may be wrong.

i have monitored every post on this thread for a long time and never seen an instate got in from waitlist.
There was, momentarily, someone who commented that they were in-state and got in for cse (not sure what that stands for?) but it seems that they have deleted it. Could have been a troll

hmm, i was told that nobody from waitlist will get CSE direct admit, only get undeclared major.
This is brutal
UC irvine closed their waitlist today. they did not accept anybody
I hope UCSD can also close waitlist today so we can do something else instead of wasting time on waiting

This year seems to be exceptionally competitive. I feel very sorry for all of you. My son is on 3 UCs waitlist. I can’t believe UCI is so hard to get in. My friend’s son had much lower GPA and SAT test score a few years back. He got into CS off waitlist to UCI. My son has much better profile and GPA , test score than him, can’t even get into the same major for UCI. My son is a national merit finalist and offered a full tuition scholarship from texas A&M in EE major. Why is it so hard to get into a good school in California… very discouraging… and I totally feel for all of you.
I want to share with all of you. This is just another chapter in life. Of course going to a good ranking school is nice, but what makes a difference in life is you and not really where you graduated from. Wherever you go, you are the one that make it works and shine through it. I wish you all the best !!
It’s difficult to get into any UC because there is just too much competition. You all deserve to go there, or you wouldn’t be on the waitlist. It’s just a shame there isn’t enough room for all the qualified applicants. Good luck to everyone. I hope UCSD starts admitting off the waitlist by tomorrow. but please don’t be discouraged if you still don’t get in. As @mamimami said above, where you go to school isn’t nearly as important as what you do with the education you do get. And in the end, it is the rest of your life that you are preparing for. College is just another step along the way. Please try to remember that. But I still hope you all get in.
