What are your interests?

leadership skills, community service, social, fellowship…?

Welllll I personally would recommend going greek to anyone. Easy way to get a great social life and meet tons of people. But it’s not for everyone, go to a few rush events for various fraternities and see what you think.

Can you tell me some well-known frats in UCSD?

No because I try not to be biased, but I can direct you to their websites:

This is the IFC website, where you can learn about the traditional fraternities: [UCSD IFC](http://www.ifcucsd.org/)

This is the multi-cultural greek facebook page (their website is broken I think)- [MultiCultural Greek Council (UCSD MGC!!!) | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook). This is if you want to join an Asian or other ethnically based fraternity.

Just so you know, men in fraternities hate it when people say “frats.” So don’t say that. hahahaha

While greek life has its pros and cons, if you’re interested in fellowship things, the people I know who are most “involved” and have tons of friends are people who are active in their church’s social groups. So if you may be into that, its worth a look.

Fraternities and sororities get a bad rap here from those of us outside of them for various reasons that I’m sure you can imagine. However, not all greek groups are like that. If you want to be in a respectable one, join a pre-business, med, law (etc.) one that is service based.

There are also many clubs on campus, and sports teams that you can join that would be FREE or super cheap, and they all advertise during the first few weeks of school. Look on here -> [Center for Student Involvement](http://www.ucsd.edu/current-students/_organizations/student-involvement/index.html)

This is the website for the center for student involvement. It has an index of all the registered orgs on campus, hopefully you’ll find some that pique your interest!

hmm, i am plannin to attend law school in the future…guess, ill look into that area.
thanks

yeah, I am plannin to attend law school after… so i guess i will look into that area.

thanks

Law Schools couldn’t care less about your extracurriculars. The hard factors are LSAT and GPA, with softer factors being LORs, SOP, being an URM, etc.

The sad thing is that I know plenty of people in Pre-Professional societies who don’t end up getting any admission to schools because they’re first and foremost a social organization and many of the members don’t seem to know how to prioritize having fun and turning themselves into competitive applicants.

^Agreeeeed completely
