UCSD College GEs for Transfers

I decided to apply to UCSD somewhat last minute as a transfer, but I’m having issues with picking a college. The problem I have is none of them are particularly clear about what I’d have to take as a transfer, GE-wise. I know that the UCSD 6 college system is mostly just about which GEs you have to take, but as a transfer, I’m not sure how much of that would apply to me. The college websites do talk about it a little bit but I’m not too clear on some of them. I know for ERC I have to take the making of the modern world or something like that, but that’s about all I can figure.

I’m applying as a communications major, not fond of STEM classes, and will have completed IGETC at time of transfer.

IGETC satisfies lower division requirements but you still have to take

What is not clear? They all seem pretty straightforward if you have IGETC.

@baktrax oh god thanks so much! I was getting super wound around trying to go to all the different college websites. it’s really clear when it’s all laid out on one page rather than having to go to each college website.

My D is just completing her first quarter at UCSD as a Communication major transfer with IGETC. She chose Warren College. She took a philosophy class this first quarter to knock out one of the upper division classes she needs for her college. Next quarter she is taking the Warren Writing course which she has heard is a pain from everyone. That leaves her with just one more upper division class to take that will complete her Warren requirements.

D is really loving her two Comm classes this quarter and has already made a couple of good friends in her major. She attends the lectures and forums that the Comm society offers and is also enjoying that. My D also applied to UCSD at the last minute and it has turned out well for her. Good luck!
