UCSD decisions are out Fall 2009

watsupdude: what was your gpa?

got into marshal ECON 3.7 gpa and got into ucsb today waiting on cal ucla and USC. they said they had 11,000 transfer apps and only 1600 were accepted.

oh and got $14,880 in grants including ucsd grant and cal grant A and a bell grant.

Im wondering the same thing! Im a comm major but still waiting on the decision… I haven’t seen any comm majors on here (that have been accepted) yet.

i highly doubt only 1600 were accepted. It was probably more like 11,000 applications for 1600 spots.

After I spent long hours, figuring out what is the best UCSD college for a major in Economics (for a transfer), I put Warren College as number one (in contrast to Muir, because for a transfer it has less requirements needed to graduate and the highest percent of economics majors). This is the second time I got accepted to UC San Diego. The first time my major was biotechnology and I got accepted to Marshall. I would hate to reject this school for the second time :frowning: I made my judgment on this website: http://transfer.ucsd.edu/igetc.php

^^^^ JetForcegeminix speaks the truth. I was looking at CC Transfer rates to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCB yesterday.

These are stats based on CC Transfer Students:
UCI: 6700 apps, 4800 admits, 1170 enrolled
UCSD: 6900 apps, 5200 admits, 1400 enrolled
UCLA: 10000 apps, 4300 admits, 2700 enrolled
UCB: 8000 apps, 2750 admits, 1700 enrolled

( These numbers were rounded. Once again, these are just #s for CC Transfers. )

My friend who is also a comm major (4.0 gpa) hasn’t heard back anything yet so I’m feeling a little bit better.

I got in last night yay! I am a communications major and i got into warren. My gpa is 3.78, I hope you other comm majors hear soon!

Itll surely be different this year because UCSD reported receiving 11,000 transfer applications with 1600 spots available. Ive been hearing the acceptance rate at the UCs is dipping a little starting this year because of the economy.

Also I dont want anyone accussing me of falsely saying that 1600 get admitted, I just meant that there are only 1600 spots available. Probably 4 times that amount will get admitted.

spkerjff25: i read in an article that UC acceptances for high school students are going to be decreased by 11%, but transfer acceptances are increased by 6%

yeah, the only people that are going to be affected by this economy are the incoming freshman class. Transfers are not. I wonder why they increased it though.

SWEET!

(I can’t help it, sorry.)

because transfers are given two years of funding compared to the four that freshmen receive.

also, transfers help the surrounding area by renting apts and such…?

Man, if I get into LA I have to commute. 30 minute drive, back and forth, every freakin’ day.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of California, San Diego – congratulations on your admission to Thurgood Marshall College as a major in Anth (Conc Sociocultural Anth)!

It seems like all 1600 spots have already been filled, haha.

I don’t think it has to do with spots… more of people with multiple acceptances going other places…

who here majored in cognitive science??..

accepted??..rejected?.. or still pending??

Blah, still nothing, haha. So anti-climactic.
