I didn't get in! I am stunned. I thought I was a gimme. 4.15 GPA and 28 ACT

ACCEPTED: Thurgood Marshall
MAJOR: Microbiology
UC GPA: 3.87
ACT: 28

What you got in and I didn't?

Were you the president of a medical club which had doctors from Kaiser come into your school and speak to the class? Did you do 12 yrs of a particular sport? Have killer essays?I don't think so...but thanks for your warm congratulatory remarks.

Ok first of all I have done 10 years of a particular sport and I started my own business and I had great essays. Everyone is good in their own. Sorry I must have forgot the congratulations. Everyone has something that makes them special, but a part a significant portion of it is the test scores. I am just a bit shocked that's all. I am sure you are just as qualified as anyone else but I also think I am.

UCSD only reads your essays to see if you've overcome some difficulties, such as death in a family or poverty, etc. Your essays don't really play a factor in your admissions. Also, what does 12 years of a sport have to do with your high school career which has only lasted four years? I didn't include anything I did/received from before 9th grade.
Still, i'm psyched to be admitted, still waiting on a bunch of colleges.

csboy1: If you are still interested in such Medical Clubs... they are VERY popular on our campus. There's a pre-med club that wear's shirts that even say, "Trust me, I'm Pre-Med".

schindlr88: I am sure that you are just as qualified as I was, or anybody else for that matter. I am sorry that you did not get in, however, make sure you appeal...there's always a chance.

nooob: It shows that you can be just as dedicated to something and really portray your persistence and hard work. Your essays, even though most believe don't play a part in your admissions, really do. Since two qualified adm. officers look over your app, they read you essays and if you write about how you adore Hitler and hate all jews, well then, we have a problem.

OoPurestOo: That sounds great, I'll try to start my own if I choose to attend UCSD.

Since everyone else is posting there stuff:

Accepted: Muir, Philosophy.

Boom, baby!

I was just wondering how many of you guys were from out of state? Maybe that was the reason.

Congrats to all
I didn't get in

I GOT IN!!! Revelle. Aww man. I heard it's hard and its honors? Only 600 made it my friend said. Is that true? Then why did they choose me?

In! Revelle, Human Bio. 600 overachievers. That should be fun!

Accepted! Muir Biochem/Chem!!!

amby: Did it specifically say you got rejected? Or did they just not update yet?

super hard for out of state people to get in.

and your "what? you got in and i didn't remark" was pretty stupid. it makes it look like you think too highly of yourself. you guys also need to stop comparing your test scores. high scores and high gpa does NOT guarantee an admission letter on a silver platter.
