Hey guys,
New transfer here and I just got my acceptance into Electrical Engineering at UCSD! It feels like a dream come true.
Now I have a question for ECE majors specifically but anyone can answer if they have input. I noticed that UCSD has different focuses within the major itself. The focuses are
-
Communication Systems
-
Computer System Design
-
Electronic Circuits and Systems
-
Electronic Devices and Materials
-
Machine Learning and Controls
-
Photonics
-
Signal and Image Processing
They all sound incredible and if I could I would study all of them. But seeing as I want to get out of here in less than 3 years I could use some guidance on choosing a focus.
I want to work in the field of robotics. I would like to be able to work in industrial robotics or logistics robotics, but consumer robotics has caught my eye as well. I want to be able to design/build/program/test/debug robots all on my own accord by the time I leave UCSD.
This is why I’m leaning towards number 5 (Machine Learning and Controls), but at the same time, I need the advice of higher ups, because would it be better in the long run if I studied number 2) (Computer System Design) or number 3) (Electronic circuits and Systems)?
Any input would be fantastic and let me know if you need any more info. Thanks!
