So goal is to transfer to UCSD as an economics major, but I was wondering if I take the courses required for the minor in accounting as well, do I have to declare the minor when applying or when they accept me under my major which is econ? Also is it beneficial to minor in accounting or should I minor in something else? Any thoughtful opinion is welcomed.

What you might want to do is double-major, if that’s a possibility. If not, maybe consider majoring in accounting and minoring in economics. From what I’ve heard, accounting is more of a job-producing major than economics, but economics is useful for accountants. In any case, yes, take the accounting classes before you transfer.

You can definitely apply to minor in accounting after you transfer as an econ major, cuz my sister did the same thing. And it will fulfill the educational requirement for the CPA exam.
