So I turned in my financial aid dependent worksheet and my Parents 2009 tax forms together in the same folder BEFORE May 1st. It got checked off and the website checked off everything and it said that my financial aid was complete. Than about 2 weeks ago, I got a mail and email that I needed to turn in my Parents 2009 tax forms... I went to ask why I needed to turn it again, and they said they never received it. I said I turned it in with my dependent worksheet, which they DID recieve on April 29th, but they never got my parents tax forms. I told them that why would they check it off my checklist if they never recieved it. they basically told me "I dunno". and they said they probably made a mistake in checking it because they dont have anything on record. Im pretty sure they lost it, and is now blaming it on me. He told me to write a letter of appeal. I sent an email that I turned it in with my dependent worksheet. I got an email back saying they will review it in September, but as of right now its late. **** UCSD.

dude half the school had the same problem.

Same thing happened to me except they said they never received my verification form, which was attached with my parents tax forms. I had to go to the FinAid office like 5 times and each time they would tell me something different. In the end, they basically told me that they wouldn’t review my file until they are finished with everyone else and now I’m screwed out of a few grand.

**** ucsd they made me miss game 7 of then nba finals with orientation

^^ it wasn’t a great game anyway, offensively. defensively it was very physical. but neither team got the offense going. : )

@keevwu

Blame the Celtics for not getting the job done in Game 6. ;)

I missed grad night for the game =P

On topic: Mine is late too. They said they’ll begin reviewing appeals in august and for now, accept whatever award they give you at the moment.

keevwu, they didnt really do that to you. Thats your own fault for signing up for that orientation date

They didnt even give me my package to except yet.

Maybe it’s cause you don’t know the difference between accept and except.

hahaha. jussssst kiddingggg I’ll stop poking the angry people

haha I didnt even notice that.

I didnt get my package yet either =

LMAO ucsandiego915. I was having a bad day and that post almost fixed it…almost ><".

Well I got my financial aid package tonight. Apparently they did accept my appeal…they didn’t even email or anything saying my appeal got accepted. but I got UCSD grant-in-aid for 2400 and work study for 1800. Got big bucks though thanks to Cal Grants 10,000 and Pell Grant 5550.

@milk

I’m curious how long you had to wait to get your official awards. I sent mine late (July 1st) and i’m still waiting on it. I have yet to receive an email about it. Did you find your official awards on MyApplication where it said preliminary before?

I sent mine in like two weeks ago. yeh, I didnt get an email about my awards either. I just happened to go onto the financial aid page on teh tritonlink and all of a sudden it had confrim awards, which wasnt there yesterday. So I suggest daily checking, because apparently emails are unreliable lol.
I also speculate why they accepted my appeal so early was that they knew they had either lost my parents tax forms, or misplaced it, so they decided to give me the money.

The page you’re referring to is the financial aid checklist right? Mine still says “Your financial aid application is currently complete. You will be notified via your UCSD e-mail when you have been awarded.” and it’s been 3 weeks…

About that appeal letter, it might just be possible that they had enough funds currently. Or at least i hope so X_X
