With admissions coming out, I figured we should get a place for transfer students to discuss their admissions.
I just found out yesterday that I was admitted into Computer Engineering, Muir College.

Nice what was your GPA?! did you complete all your pre-req?!
CS major here as well, from SMC

Another CS major transfer as well. I’m planning to spend 3 years at UCSD if I choose to attend, because I’m missing some prereqs.

Me too,It will take me 3 years…CS major and lots of hard upper-division courses. I don’t think I can take more than 3 courses each semester…and also I like to take my time…doing internships, clubs etc. which I didn’t have the time to do while I was at my CC having an unrelated part-time job
but I read in another forum they put time limit for transfer students to graduate!!! :/

@boglandgoo 3.5 GPA and all pre reqs and IGETC completed. I also was looking into my program, and I’d be spending 3 years there. You guys thinking about housing in the Village?

My daughter was just accepted to Warren and thinking about living in the transfer apartments if she accepts. She’s is trying to decide between UCSD & SDSU which are so different.Linguistics is her major, and Japanese minor and this school has an excellent program. Any Linguistic majors at UCSD feel free to help her decide.
4.0 GPA all reqsu & IGETC completed with 2 AA’s.
Worried the SDSU program won’t be hard enough & UCSD will be too hard.

Still waiting for my reply as well. Structural Engineering major missing one pre-requisite. TAG completed 3.9 GPA

@Janig3 I’m in the same boat, only for engineering. I literally am getting so stressed trying to decide between the two.

@stevoleeto: I am. I have not been accepted yet…3.58, missing discrete math and data structure.

were you emailed or were you just checking?

There is already a massive thread for us transfers in the UC Transfers part of CC: <a href=“2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1617755-2014-fall-ucsd-transfer-decisions-thread-p1.html

Come join us there! <:-P

Hi guys,
I got accepted into UCSD Biochemistry Major, Muir College still thrilled about that

I finished most of my major requirements (except for Physics sequence) and GE.
GPA: 3.82 - no TAG
Does anyone has any suggestions/comments regarding the college and major? (I’m concerned that UCSD would be too difficult for me)
I am also thinking about staying in dorm/apartment during my 2 years here. What do you guys think about housing?

Hey guys,
I was accepted into Muir College for History
GPA: 3.94 No Tag
Does anyone know the deal with housing for transfers? Is it on campus or off and what is the “best” housing for transfers?

Of all the campus’s I’ve visited the past year, UCSD easily had the best housing for transfers. Transfers get their own area called the Village, the link above has more details. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the heart of the campus. If I end up going to UCSD, I will without a doubt be staying in the village my first semester!

My daughter also loved the Village housing when we visited. @jackb88 it’s on campus on the NW edge I believe. We just walked around the perimeter and rode the shuttle around. When we left the University, we saw a bunch of nice apartments off campus right next to the UCSD parking lot that we had taken a shuttle to (off Genesee) I’m sure there are many to choose from.

@stevoleeto: thanks for the info. I am convincing my parents about going to UCSD. They really want me to stay close and go to Irvine instead. So I/m in between.
