UCSD FALL 2016 TRANSFER THREAD

Will asking a question from portal (email) affect my acceptance?

No, it wont.

@LopApo I just sent an email from portal asking about switch major. I am worried that my decision has not come out yet, and I am wondering to switch major will decrease the chance of getting in

BTW is 3.61 save for econ major?

Would anyone happen to know what the gpa cut off for Sociology majors has been In the past?

Does anyone know what I should do if I added a class from another college that is not listed in my UC application?

Do you guys think the next batch might start this Friday?

It’s usually around April 18th IIRC

I currently dont work at my part time job now, should i update this on tau or notify UC’s about it?

@screencap1 I actually wanted to make changes to my extracurricular and work activities after submitting. UCSD doesn’t actually look at those for transfer applicants so you should be fine. No one will audit you to see if it’s true. However if you applied to any other uc’s you’d want to visit this page: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/after-you-apply/.

Hey @ucsddyee381 !
can you please tell me where did you see that UCSD doesn’t look at EC’s?

@ucsddyee381 I actually forgot to fill out my Extracurriculars & Activities portion but I managed to email the UC system a document of all of the things I should have listed. They accepted it and “added to my application for schools to view”.

Are you saying it wasn’t necessary for me to take those steps in the first place, since they don’t look at that portion?

I GOT A FULL RIDE TO UCSD!!!

This was a major factor for me!!! I found out today, and I SIR(ed) !!!

HAPPY DAYS!!!

Good Luck to ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL

@calbear2016fall wait you got notified today? Have you been checking constantly for the past few days or could it possibly be from the first batch weeks ago?

Anyways, congrats!!!

@ct2809 I spoke to a UCSD rep at my community college and I asked him, he said UCSD doesn’t look at the extracurriculars only the grades and the personal statement. I had some volunteer work that I forgot to list on my application, I didn’t bother to email the UC to fix this.

When I spoke to a UCSD rep at my CC, they told me otherwise. They said that the personal statement doesn’t matter and they don’t look at it, and the only thing that really matters is your grades, major prep courses, and overall gpa. They even said that they don’t really bother with the extra curriculars either, but that can be debatable. The UC’s that look at the personal statement are usually Berkeley and UCLA because they’re more holistic.

BUT, there’s so many opinions on what the UC’s really look at so I don’t even think theres a definitive answer to that question.

@ucsddyee381 @Solstice1 thank you guys for your answers!

How many batches were there last year?

My Rep told me that UCSD is the only college that does not pick applicants by major.

@TransferJ so are you saying that it doesn’t matter if you applied to an impacted major or not? More GPA based (like what everyone else is saying) then?
