UCSD Fall 2017 Transfer Thread

@plsacceptmeUCs Congrats! Was your portal just updated now?

@blackonyx so do they send emails every day for the next six weeks?

@blackonyx Thank you!! I received an email telling me that my decision was ready on my portal this morning at 11:47AM, and I didn’t see it and check my portal until around 6:30PM tonight. Are you currently waiting on your decision as well?

@LynAmmo Hi, I read earlier that you said UCSD stated financial aid info for you…??? Where did you see that? I was accepted at 11:38 today too, and also into Roosevelt!

@plsacceptmeUCs yep! very anxiously waiting. I probably won’t wear until the next wave since I haven’t heard yet.

@5HisLife It’s most likely more like large batches. They will send you an email when your portal is updated but it will be pretty delayed. It’s best to keep refreshing your portal. You will most likely hear back with the rest of us April 21st (if you’re confused about why that date look back in previous posts of this thread)

@plsacceptmeUCs Congrats!!

@lexluther96 Congrats! When you go to the portal with the decision information, there are 3 links;
My Welcome Letter
My Contract
My Financial Aid Estimate

@ald6191 thank you, you too!!

@lexluther96 After you see the page that says, “WELCOME TO UC SAN DIEGO” scroll down and click next then it will take you to a page that shows you how to “Be a Triton!” then click the button that says “My Financial Aid Estimate” and it will break down the cost of the school and what you’ll be receiving in financial aid if you did fafsa and any other additional financial awards.

@LynAmmo Thank you!!

Hi! I was accepted today around 11:38. Here are my stats:

Major: Philosophy
Major GPA: 4.0
GPA: 3.93
IGETC: Will complete by the end of spring 2017
Prereqs: Done
ECs: Executive VP of ASB, speech & debate team, honors program, created a financial literacy program that my school officially adopted and established, volunteer with disabled youth, volunteer English tutor to ESL immigrant and refugee students, helped develop a prosthetic device that allows amputees to play stringed instruments, helped develop the first commercially available bionic hand, I work 20-30 hours per week, multiple clubs, internship with the city manager, internship with a nonprofit law firm that aids migrant workers, internship with a media/tech company that produces some mainstream commercials/ads, received leadership training as a part of a special program at my school — I was handpicked by the dean for it, president’s list, Phi Theta Kappa, ummm I think there’s more…
Story: I am an amputee. My mom broke her back my senior year, so I attended CC instead of a four-year to help take care of her and save money. I work as a waitress and yoga teacher despite the upper-limb amputation. My major is leo very specific to my story; I am a descendant of Mexican migrant workers and as a result of my heritage and our current political climate, I’m pursing immigration and/or civil rights law. I’m all a first generation college student.

UCs Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB
Accepted: UCSD, UCD (TAG)
Pending: UCB, UCLA, UCSB

Good luck to everyone! Congrats to those of you who already know about a few schools! :slight_smile:

Is anyone considering going Greek??

@lexluther96 I am! 110% :smiley:

@lexluther96 I am! 120% haha :wink:

@LynAmmo are you rushing NPC?

@MiniGrace11 I haven’t looked into any of it, but I’m definitely going to. I’ve always wanted to!

nothing on my portal, just says that transfer decisions will be posted by april 30th :frowning:

my major isn’t capped either :frowning: but i see the people who got accepted all have nearly 4.0s so that might be why…damn now im worried

Welcome to UCSD everybody that got in on the first wave!! I chose between UCB, UCI, UCR and UCSD in 2015. I’ve taken summer classes and studied on other UC campuses, and I can tell you there’s nothing like the environment the San Diego campus provides for studying. Geisel is one of my favorite places to just hangout and study for hours, and hours, and hours. I’m finishing up my last quarter here in the spring and I loved every minute of the intense stress that is UC San Diego. Again, welcome!

Accepted yesterday around noon!

Major: Communication
GPA: 3.86
IGETC: Completed
Prereqs: Done
ECs: Not much but not too bad (some clubs, volunteers, and a job)
PS: 8/10
UCs Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD
Accepted: UCSD (Got in the Sixth College, it was my second choice.)
Pending: UCB, UCLA

Congrats to people who got accepted!

@LynAmmo @MiniGrace11 What sororities are you looking at? Delta Gamma has a gross ranking on the Greek website because I guess they’re super catty, materialistic and, as one person described it, “personality-less.” And then my best friend is in pi phi at UW and she said they’re about to get shut down at UCSD for excessive hazing so not to rush… Meeeh
