PS: I dunno, 8 or 9 out of 10 maybe? I worked on them obsessively for three months, had five readers (including the head of the English dept), and a UCB admissions officer told me that my writing was excellent and not to change anything. Two of my readers cried…
Bad stuff on my academic record: I dropped two classes in good standing last spring (chem and calc) because of crazy personal circumstances and then I didn’t retake them as per the advice of my college counselor and the admissions officer at UCB. They applied to neither IGETC nor my major prep so they were irrelevant.
Got my acceptance on Saturday morning! Pretty stoked, UCSD is my #2 choice. Congrats to everyone who got in so far, and good luck to everyone waiting still!

@lexluther96 I haven’t looked up any. I’m waiting for this semester to end so I can have more free time to do some research. What website are you checking out? Did you also apply to UCLA, UCB? And which school is your first choice?
@lexluther96 I’ve looked at them all and I pretty much just looked at them to get an idea of sorority life rather than looking at them to pick which one I feel I would like the most. The pledge classes vary each year, and I don’t trust Greekrank. I do trust the mutual selection process, though. I feel like if I take the stuff I read online about them seriously, I will go into rush biased and trying to get myself in a certain house by being someone that I am not. I’d be happy in any house that I get because we pick each other.
@LynAmmo I wouldn’t trust greekrank… 1/2 the site is full of haters and the other 1/2 is self-ranked. I suggest watching like each school’s sorority videos on youtube or watching some recruitment vlogs! I’ve been researching greek life for about a year now and I find that the actual sororities websites and videos tend to be the best sources of information! The vlogs are also very helpful in terms of what to expect
I applied to UCLA which is my #1 choice!
@MiniGrace11 UCLA is my first choice too! I’ve pretty much already planned my life out there I’ll most likely be joining a pre-med sorority (idk if those even exist), but it’s gonna be another 40 days of waiting so I’ll have plenty of time to waste my time not doing homework and do more research on Greek life! :D/
@LynAmmo Hi! Yes, I also applied to UCB and UCLA. I also applied to some privates like Gtown, Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Stanford, UMich, and USC. However, I’d probably pick UCB over all of them except like Stanford, Columbia, and MAYBE Gtown depending on the financial package. I love UCLA too and would be so stoked to go there. The privates are more of a just in case kind of thing. I’m pre-law and I want to do civil rights or immigration law, so UCB is better for me. They have the peace and justice studies major, which I want to double in. Did you apply to UCB? Also, all of my friends who are in sororities just told me that Greek rank is really unreliable.
@lexluther96 Yes, I applied to all the UC’s except Merced. UCLA is my first, UCB is my second, and UCSD is my third. I’d love to be at any of these schools, but I want to get into David Geffen Medical School, so I think the best option for me would be UCLA. Hopefully they offer a lot of financial aid :-SS I’ll be watching vlogs on the Greek experience, so I know what to expect before I get there. Hopefully these couple of days fly by.
