EDIT: lmao guys CC isn’t letting me make a new group chat rn so ill make one maybe later today??? The group message feature was working 2 days ago but it isn’t even letting me mail you guys individually haha my luck is so bad
Did UCSD read and take into account your personal insight responses this year? I know in previous years they didn’t, and several college counselors told me they didn’t, but it seems like this year it might’ve been different.
Anyone know the best college for Econ? My choices were 1) Marshall 2) Muir and 3) 6th.
Major: Econ
Alt Major: Econ and Math
Hopefully we can find out tomorrow [-(
Does anyone know when the housing deadline is?
I think this year was different and it was somewhat competitive as one of my friends told me; so much so, that the UCSD admissions people had to read personal statements/ECs to differentiate the people who were going to be admitted or rejected.
With my acceptance into UC San Diego I think I really do have a shot at Berkeley after all :). I honestly thought UC San Diego was a reach for me. Theres tons of momentum for me right now due to my acceptances into UC Santa Cruz and San Diego respectively along with a potential 10k scholarship at UC Santa Cruz. I hope I can snag an acceptance into UC Berkeley for Engineering Math & Statistics next week; Berkeley is my goal! I have no idea how I’m going to compose myself over the course of next week because I have so much coming out (COMSC 76 Midterm grade, Karl S. Pister scholarship results and Berkeley’s decision).
I was surprised to hear when I got into UCSD with my credentials because I thought it was strictly stats based.
Here are my stats:
UC Transferable GPA: 3.68/4.0
Schools I’ve attended: CUNY: New York City College of Technology (CUNY: NYCCT), Moorpark College, Evergreen Valley College (EVC; Currently attending Evergreen Valley College)
Applied for UC San Diego (Engineering Science: Structural Engineering)
College: John Muir College (1st choice), can’t remember the others
Decision: Admitted into UC San Diego as a Structural Engineering major and into John Muir College!
(Required Coursework using San Diego conventions)
Major: Engineering Science: Structural Engineering

MATH 20B: A
MATH 20C: B
MATH 20D: A
MATH 18: A
MATH 20E: N/A

PHYS 2B & PHYS 2BL: B
PHYS 2C & PHYS 2CL: A

Other:
I’ve explained my grade dip in my application which was due to dire family related circumstances that caused my GPA to drop like a rock at my time at Moorpark College and slightly at EVC. I’ve emphasized that I am now ready to advance my studies at the university level now that my family issues have been resolved in my Personal Statement. At CUNY: NYCCT I had a 3.98 GPA, at Moorpark College I had a 2.93 GPA and my GPA at EVC at the moment is 3.727.(2 semesters done at CUNY: NYCCT, 1 summer session done at CUNY: NYCCT, 1 semester at Moorpark College, 4 semesters at EVC).
It’s slightly sad how people are saying “wow so many people with low GPAs are getting in and I’m still waiting with my 3.6+ GPA”. Everyone deserves a chance at their dream school and GPA is not everything. I was honestly surprised to get in with a 3.5 considering how prestigious this school is. Be happy for everyone.
Got admitted to Pyschology with 4.0 GPA.
I have not completed 2 of the pre-reqs
- Chem1A - I signed up for it, but dropped it due to the course load. Since my sem starts in Feb, I dropped it mid-feb.
I updated this info sometime in march in the UC supplemental application
- Java Programming - I did not even know this pre-req was there. Maybe they added it recently or something. Anyway did not even do it.
Anyone know how this will affect my admission.
yes
What’s the difference between the colleges. I got placed in Warren
@BoredEngineer Thanks for the detailed response!! I feel you, my UCSD acceptance is giving me a little bit of hope for Cal. The strength of my personal insight responses was uncertain to me, but since I got into UCSD in the March 11 batch, I feel like they’re at least adequate haha. We’ll see if they suffice for Cal and UCLA within the next week, though X_X
Is there a facebook group for admitted transfer students yet?
Hey guys. Congrats to everyone. I was admitted into Sixth College and for Nanoengineering. I have a few questions if anyone knows the answers… They only admit you if they know you meet the prereqs and everything right? I’m looking at my major reqs, and college reqs, and it seems pretty overwhelming like I’d be super behind. But they’d only accept you if they looked at your transcript and know that you’ve fulfilled things in order to graduate on time? If that makes sense.
Admitted

@altvillager congrats! I also applied to nanoengineering, but I haven’t heard back yet.
@brpere1175 I’m interested too!
I wonder if they did look at the personal insight questions because I’m pretty non-traditional. I graduated yeeears ago and took off 2-3 years of college completely (huge gap). I talked about my reason for taking it off was to help provide financial assistance while my dad recovered from a severe injury/accident and my mom was struggling to be the only provider for our family; eventually I did get to go back to school, but continued to work part-time (to pay for my younger siblings’ daycare expenses) and go to school full-time. Whether or not it helped me, I’m not sure. But I did bust my butt after my first year of CC and I only got one B after that (lol, dang you econ).
I also sent my SIR to UCSD and they waived my fee, I guess? Either way, it’s official everyone! 8->
@UCtoUC17 alright! @littlebuns @lostar @doihaveashot16 @bdnsc369 hey since group chat is being weird, (and I hope this isn’t a weird request lol) do you guys have an IG? We can group chat there!
@plsacceptmeUCs
Good luck!
