@enpz45 True, but I think sometimes people are jumping to conclusions about stuff they don’t really know, and then people jump on to it and a rumor spread for the admissions cycle. I’ve seen the rumor about the personal statement floating around lately, and earlier today someone said that they are done accepting people, which everyone freaked out about. People treat some of these speculations that people have as fact, despite them not providing any evidence usually.

Guys. I just got waitlisted. But still. I didnt get denied or rejected.
That means I’m pretty strong applicant and my application isnt weird
GPA: 3.55
Major GPA: 3.82
Major: Linguistics - I was in the range of admitted gpa but oh well
By the way, so for the waitlisted ppl, we just have to wait…right?..
@TransfertoUCLA Looks like it. Hopefully someone will make a thread for us wait-listed applicants. I looked at a previous wait-list thread from a few years ago (2015 I believe) and it looks like the earliest date to be admitted on the wait-list is May 22nd, even though they state June 1st.
@TransfertoUCLA I honestly don’t understand the admission process. How can someone with a 3.5 get waitlisted and someone with a 3.0 get accepted?
I wish they just released all the decisions at the same time 
This process is so convoluted. I would prefer that UC’s just all release their decisions on one day just like the Ivies do for the high school kids.
@blackonyx Well…same here! I’ve seen so many ppl getting in to poli sci major with 3.1-3.2 gpa range… without good ECs… maybe because I have retakes…? But I’ve also seen many many ppl having 7 Ws’ and retakes getting in…
I feel so guilty getting accepted with a 3.0 and way higher GPA’s getting waitlisted!

I think it varies by the department and they should’ve read our essays and ECs…! so that’s why.
you should’ve been a strong applicant and that’s why you’re admitted

I’m assuming people receive Regents as soon as they are admitted. However, no one has said they received Regents in here.

@TransfertoUCLA Who knows! I’d like to be a fly on the wall in the admissions room lol. I myself was worried because I had several Ws and had an F that I later retook for an A but still felt so worried having to report an F on my application. Definitely kinda felt like a shaky applicant and was dealing with some out of state credits (I’m at a CCC now). But by the freaking grace of god I got in, with a 3.47 O_____o
@astrophilia Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel bad! They obviously thought you deserved to be there. I just found it interesting because if you compare it to last year no one on the forum reported getting in with under a 3.4 or so initially. Everything under that pretty much got wait listed. But we have to remember the people here are an EXTREMELY small percentage of the 17,700 apps that they got this year. So does make me wonder about what that person posted a couple pages back that showed they took personal insight into account.
just wonder, so tomorrow will be the last wave? and it will be for rejected? despair…
