@luckybaby idk how reasonable it is to torture people like this. They may have the best engineering program in town, but administration leaves a lot to be desired. I am so tired of their disorganized bs. Spent 40 min on hold (40, Carl!), just so that they could hang up on me. I swear to god, if UCI accepts me from the waitlist, I will go there just not to deal with ucsd’s bs.
UCI may not be ranked as highly, but they never had me wait on hold for longer than 5 min.
40 minutes on hold? Pat) Calm down and forget it. They are truly extremely busy at the moment. Best wishes! Hope you could get into where you love at last. @lenocturne
Does UCSD’s email come through right away? I know UCI has a very delayed email after your portal is updated which is why I ask
AO replied my email saying that “All decisions will be made by the end of this week.”
Thank you for your info! @fashaMH
I just wonder, to those who have been accepted or waitlisted, are you guys a resident of Cali? Any non-residents have heard back from ucsd?
Has anyone been rejected yet?
I heard back and im a bio major!
For anyone wondering about waitlist, here’s some stats for the all the UC’s in terms of waitlist offers, people who accepted the spot, people who were admitted off the waitlist and it has appeal stats as well.

I am a nonresident of California @fashaMH and I haven’t heard back yet!
Any ideas how to appeal? Though I haven’t received my decisions yet lol
If you wanna appeal you need serious info. It very rarely works, but ive been thinking about it and formulating how id write it recently too LOL. I feel like id get rejected on some dumb basis like I have 2 capped majors or that they think i dont have enough units. Annoying.
@orlyx6 what time did you hear back as a bio major?
@danelley13 my friend and I both got into human bio last Friday.
@fashaMH I’m at a Cali CC and halfway to residency but still technically a nonresident and I got accepted.
I applied for two different bio majors, both capped. Havent heard back yet. Finished all pre reqs for both and have a 3.9.
Okay, so after reading through this thread and seeing a lot if interesting speculations, I felt compelled to comment.
I see a lot of people thinking that UCSD does not read essays, and that more complicated applications are taking longer to process.
I don’t think either of the two are true.
I got accepted on the first day, and was very shocked. I honestly was not planning to check my UCSD portal, and was notified due to email. UCSD is my top choice, but I didn’t think I would gain admission because My GPA upon transfer was 3.19, and 3.24 with TAU. I was also missing 2 prereqs for my major. UCSD required an extra major prereq that the other UCs did not, so out of all the schools I applied to, I did not think I would get in, I also completed the IGETC.
This is why I believe that the essays count.
I have also seen/ heard a lot of people feeling guilty for their admission for having a GPA under 3.5, and people questioning how someone under 3.5 could be admitted.
This thread is suppose to be a place for support, so if you have been admitted you deserve your spot and you worked hard for it, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
For everyone still waiting, I hope that my stats will your ease your mind, and hope that you all hear back something positive from your top choices.
Our bad.
I think they handled California residents first.
I am a california resident thouuuuugh. More bad news
Mmm, I am not just a California resident, I live 14 min away from ucsd, and still waiting.
Just a speculation, but possibly they are waiting for UCLA to release decisions? Some people would probably SIR there, and UCSD would then have more open spots… very disappointed with ucsd this year.
