If we aren’t accepted for our major are we put into consideration for our alternate major at UCSD?
My gpa isn’t very strong but I feel like my application and essays were. I have Ec’s to boot, LOTS of leadership examples, I was a stellar student in high school, and I have work experience. Uhg… I don’t know what to expect at this point.
@RaymondAlvaradoH many people in the past have gotten in for their alternative major so it is possible
@skyinthesky I hope you’re right! I’ve heard that only happens for transfers if your major is impacted, my major is sociology and it’s not impacted 
i’ve got a pretty crappy GPA but it’s because I took a 90% of my college classes while in high school along with my regular high school classes. So I have 3 C’s which messed me up big time! (I explained the whole situation of me graduating early and overcoming the difficulties of all that in my essay to compensate)
GPA: 3.28
Major: Cognitive Science
Alternate major: Psychology with a specialization in cognitive psychology (I hop to get in as this, it was just too late to switch majors)
CA resident for CCC
Prerequisite for major: not completed, only have stats, but classes are recommended not required
Prerequisite for alternate major: completed this spring
IGETC: partial IGETC, missing a second science, may complete during summer.
EC: cadet at the local police department, volunteer at an elementary school, other EC’s are from my high school because its my first year out of high school (I’m still 17)
Essays: thinking a 8-9/10
Accepted: SF State
Applied: SDSU, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, UCD (ucla and ucb were just for fun, i already know i have no chance)
Waiting to hear from: all the UC’s
@srafiq well the enroll GPA range of cognitive science is between a 3.06 and 3.62, and the admit GPA range is from 3.22-3.8. Both of the lower halves are less than your GPA so I think you have a solid chance! Good luck

@srafiq okay cool, not as bad as you think I’d say! I’m applying for psych with a uc gpa of 3.3 And cc of 3.68 so like 3.5 ish and I’m in their range which gives me hope, if you check the uc website for transfers you can see the different gpas they accepted and hopefully can feel the same!

@Princetonian9 ahh i hope we get accepted! I just calculated my gpa through the UC tap system. I have courses from like 4 colleges (perks of taking classes in high school ://) so I couldn’t take my cc gpa bc not all my courses are transferred. Sucks that some of my courses are CSU only from high school, they really would have helped my gpa lol

Hi guys, I’ve been lurking on CC for a while now. I haven’t posted much, but since today is the alleged promise day, I decided to come out from hiding.
I was accepted to UCI and UCR already, but I’m still waiting on UCLA and UCSD (dream school). I’m anxious to find out. I’d be lying if I said that I haven’t been obsessively refreshing my portal. haha.
