@likeschowder its true the ranking online are all based on research papers published each year. The rigor is pretty much equivalent. If you are trying to get a job you’ll learn everything you need to be successful. Colleges are a huge metric based jungle. Most people don’t know but depending on major UC Irvine might pay you higher than Berkeley for you job. Its all arbitrary.
@UCStudent951 Yeah, who wouldn’t? It’s super prestigious and looks great on your resume. Also, the people there are great (I lived in the student co-ops for three years while working/attending CC).
I have zero EFC as well, and I’m noticing slight differences in the student aid packages I’m being awarded. (Davis has given me a few thousand less than SB, which is huge in my case). If you’re like me, it’s all about the award, not necessarily the prestige. I didn’t attend Davis two years ago because I couldn’t pay for it.
@roohafzahmami101 omg i love your username
A lot of times if your GPA is that high they won’t accept you. That was the case for many people in previous years. Also it’s not just about the GPA, they consider the essays and EC’s as well, they’re there for a reason. But let us know what happens! @UCStudent951
@Fhot112 Exactly. A “metric based jungle”. My brother in law is a higher up at a tech company who administers the interview process. He says that he literally doesn’t give a **** where the interviewee attended school. It’s a matter of knowing your stuff.
@UCStudent951 if you know you got in, then why are you even on this forum? You can’t solely rely on the stats ever. If i relied on the stats, I wouldn’t have even bothered applying to UCSD for chem because my gpa was way below the average range.
@UCStudent951 yeah that’s why you don’t have friends… nobody wants to hear you bragging everywhere. and TBH, your spec is nothing much and I don’t think anybody would be surprised with your application. so stop trying to show off. Nobody here buys it bruh
If you just look at the raw numbers from past threads, tons of people with 4.0’s were rejected from UCSD/Davis.
This is so funny :))
@UCStudent951 There’s a time and place for everything - you can take your humble bragging somewhere else
Wait why if your GPA is high they won’t accept you? That seems a little weird to me?
heaters
@flaminhaute thanks!
@Cunningsloth I could be wrong but I’ve heard of something called yield protection. A college might sense that a student with high stats is likely applying purely for a safety option, so they reject them to give a chance to a student with lower stats is more likely to attend. Might just be a conspiracy theory, don’t trust me lol
There would be a bro fight in the San Diego forum
ugh waitlisted at davis, this makes me really nervous for ucsd. what are the chances of getting off the waitlist?
@RaymondAlvaradoH Same
you guys are so hilarious!
Has anyone been accepted now?
If I get accepted I’m going to poop myself on the spot
