@tacoturnup It was a Sociology class about media. So it could and could not, I guess. Funny thing is, I had a big freak-out the day applications were due because I only then noticed my credits were short. I thought they were already but my community college counselor said they weren’t and it was all okay. It wasn’t. I was 20 credits short. So, I ended up taking 14 credits this semester and calling the UC’s to see if they would accept those remaining 6 from another UC. UCSD said they would, UCSB said they probably would and UCLA said no so, I pulled my application from UCLA.
My mom and I searched online for hours after and the only conclusion we came to is that they want you to have your AA completed before/upon transferring. So, that’s what I chalk it up to be. I also only today found out (thanks to you guys) about UCSB not reading your essays. Maybe that would have helped, maybe not. It was my safety school and it totally sucks to be denied from your safety school. The last few weeks/months have been horrible as I don’t even know if I’m going anywhere but hopefully, that will change in the next 24 hours.
@AceisMy_HikingPuppy hahaha, for the record you should still watch the movie. It’s pretty funny, the sequel not so much but the original is a classic. Just to get the feel of it, youtube: Anchorman Intro… it’s iconic. Its hilarious!
@kristinpete Legit crapping bricks because of this school. The only place I’ve been accepted was University of La Verne from one of those random on the spot admission meetings I decided to try out last minute and I’m for sure not going there. I either get lucky with UCI and get picked off the waitlist or hopefully get admitted into UCSD (or waitlisted I guess). If I had just taken physics like the rest of CS majors, I wouldn’t be having to depend on 2 schools…I digress lol.
It’s terrible feeling as though the entire course of your future is being jerked around by these nearly billion dollar institutions…
Fun Fact: Did you know UCSD made $5.8 million off of application fees alone last year (second highest in the country after UCLA - $6.8 million)
@liddlewolfe Im also an anthro major. I haven’t received any of the booklets or calls from UCSD but i’m up in Northern California. I also got weight listed at UCSB and i’m very frustrated about it.I only applied to 2 schools UCSD and UCSB. im feeling pretty good about getting into UCSD. I hope they have room in the anthro department for both of us.
@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy University of La Verne is actually a decent school. My sister is alumni. I can only attest for their Broadcast Journalism department because that’s what my sister got her degree in. She works at the best news station in California now. It’s also a good distance from LA; it’s close but not too close. I didn’t apply because they didn’t have my major but, it’s a nice school campus and social-life wise. I’d recommend visiting it if you can. My sister felt the same way you did (Pepperdine was her dream school) until she visited. Hopefully a UC will work out for you (and all of us!) though. ?
@FemmeFilmFatale Same here! I graduated a year early from high school and now from college as well. You have a pretty solid GPA so I think you will get in since UCSD has a decent rate of acceptance for transfers. I’m lucky though, I have heard about counselors being wrong on multiple occasions. I was warned not to trust counselors by my friend’s brother who had gone to the same cc I am currently attending. I met with counselors, mostly because of my parents, but I did all the research myself of the classes I needed to take to transfer. The counselor repeated what I basically already knew so it was more of affirmation. I triple checked everything throughout the year and ended up being able to transfer without any guidance from a counselor minus the meetings. I did make some mistakes, but none that cost me my transferring to a UC.
Wow, looking through last year’s decisions didn’t help me at all… A few people with high GPAs were being waitlisted or rejected and frankly, I didn’t see anyone with low GPAs…
@FemmeFilmFatale Yea University of La Verne is nice and all, It’s just that it cost way too much money and the school just wouldn’t be able to give me enough to where it’s worth going and my parents make too much or something so I didn’t get any government aid. I get all UCs tuition free so I really have just dismissed all private schools lol.
@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy hey, I am in the same boat (CS major). I didn’t take any physics. But I heard UCSD doesn’t require physics, and looked at their website, since assist said its out of date. I guess we will just have to wait till 6 pm today.
