UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@Sparks123 same, I took chem. UCSD allows chem, physics, or bio

@professorchez what’s your gpa? mine is a 3.3 so i’m feeling pretty stressed

What are the chances it will be released today?

@brebre123 I wasn’t seeing any…I saw one come off the waitlist…

On the last few pages there were a lot of people and someone even got in through appeal

@Sparks123 Yea assist was really outdated for UCSD because when I talked with several counselors and administrators at events from UCSD they only mentions needing a computer science class and math up to calc 3 and linear algebra.

Im actually taking calc 3 and linear algebra right now and really want to drop linear algebra. I just know I won’t do great in both taking them at the same time and would rather try to get an A in one rather than do mediocre in both. Do you think dropping with a W would mess things up for me? I’m just going to try and call today and see what they say. Any advice would really help :confused:

Does anyone think they will release it today?

I feel like it for sure has to come out by today! I mean I have no solid evidence but I’m saying this because they always have released decisions a couple days after UCLA (which released on Wednesday) and they usually don’t release on the weekends, and it seems a little too close to comfort for them to release on Monday and Tuesday when there’s people that have to submit for CSU by May 1st! But that’s just my logic :slight_smile:

Today will be a hard day as well lol.

@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy If you get into a UC that requires the class (UCSD does) you drop they can take your acceptance back and reject you. I’ve talked to my counselor about dropping physics last month, and she advised me to do my best and get a passing grade instead of dropping. She said its worst to drop a class than say getting a B. Best to call and ask the admissions office to make sure. People have been saying that UCSD is lenient on missing prereqs though.

@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy , I would worry about dropping after the decision, and if you get accepted then I would say keep taking both classes and hope to get either one of them C and the other B (hopefully both B or higher). If not accepted then I would plan for another time of admission, and to maintain a strong GPA right now. Also I already took Calc 3 and Linear Algebra and I could help you out some way.

@Sparks123 I might just take you up on that offer lol. I really think linear algebra is harder than calc 3 just because of all the proofs. I hate having to memorize all the wording and every little detail. But calc 3 has way more material and I always end up spending all my time studying for calculus.

Plus since I’m waitlisted for UCI and they don’t require Linear Algebra, it gives me more incentive to try and save my gpa and take the W. Last time I got a C it was a Chemistry honors class and dropped my gpa from a 3.7 to like 3.5. I feel like if I got accepted and it dropped again, they would for sure rescind my acceptance :frowning:

Im calling now to see what they suggest…

OHHHHH I hope UCSD can release their decision today although it just rejected me because the waiting time makes me tired:(((

They said that I should ask the CSE department, but they don’t have a phone number apparently so I have to send an email :confused:

Did they say when will they post the decisions lol

@AChen459 they haven’t said anything, it’s purely out of deduction that everyone is assuming they will come out today

UCSD is absolutely not lenient. They rejected my brother and many others TWO weeks before the quarter begins for a missing physics class, even though they had already accepted him in May and knew that he hadn’t taken a physics pre-req

@uctransferhopeful For wut major tho?

@hellouc2 I think what the guy meant was that his brother didn’t finish the minimum requirement listed on their website to transfer.

Oh nvm. I thought he said his brother got denied in CS major bc of missing physic class.
