I have a question regarding my enrollment statuses and financial aid. I've read from a few sites that if you are not enrolled in at least 12 units by Sept. 17, your cal grants will be dropped and rescinded. Is this correct? Or at least that financial aid will not be disbursed until the student is enrolled in a minimum of 12 units.

Currently I am able to enroll in 4 units, because I have been wait listed for all the other classes I have signed up for. If I am to get into all my classes, I would be enrolled in 16 units. Since classes do not start until Sept. 27, how am I supposed to get into enough classes to qualify as a full time student?

Also since the first bill is due on the 21st, I don't see how I will get the financial aid in time, if at all. My bill is currently at $7000, would I need to pay all of it myself?

This is determined by your university. You need to call up the relevant office in UCSD, and ask them whether or not classes that you are on wait lists for count for determination of your full-time status.

@mom2collegekids So far most of the classes are already full and wait listed. I’m pretty high up on each of the wait lists (#1 writing sem, #1 chem6A, #4 socio), but I don’t know if I know if it’s the best idea to give up my spot. The problem is that classes don’t begin until Sept 27th, so I won’t know if there will be people who will drop or not. Also Sept 27th is after the 17th (the Grant date) and the 21st (the Bill due date).

@amarkov I know that wait listed classes do not count towards being a full-time student already. The problem is that UCSD puts a cap on the total amount of credits you can register for (counting both enrolled + waitlisted classes) at 19 units. My 1 enrolled class (4 units) + 3 wait listed classes (12 units) puts me at 16 units already. I’m looking for a 3 unit class…
