ucsd frats/soRorities

which ucsd frat (interfrat and multicultural) is..
the best?
most social?
most phillantrophic?

how about sororities?

Ha, we have those? :|

Yeah, but no frat row. I don't think their presence on campus is too big? Not sure.

Ya, doesn't the city of La Jolla not allow Frat houses?

yeah, la jolla doesn't allow frat houses...which is a huge part of the lack of social scene

if the city doesn't allow frat houses, how can we have fraternities? also what about sororities???

I wish I could say that you CAN'T!! But you can. I don't remember what my tour guide said about that, but I do remember him saying that we do have a greek scene, so obviously they find some way to get around it?

the frats and soror. houses are in san diego i think, instead of la jolla.

Yeah there's a couple frat houses a bit north and east of UCSD... where it's technically not La Jolla. Not far, but not walking distance.

are frats muti-cultural mixed with different types of races ? those frats are not just for 1 race right?

how do you tell what race you are?

Humans ONLY. Otherwise, keep the **** out.

the what? Niggs?

UCSD is racist as hell.

Good thing hell isn't very racist then.
Racist people suck.

Some guy in my class was wearing a tshirt with this design: http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/ATA/24791DG~Suk-Mai-****-Posters.jpg

And the prof said it was funny.

I thought that was pretty racist, no?

Also, the frats and sororities at UCSD are pretty much segregated by race.

UCSD doesn't have a status quo on frats or sororities. Don't get your hopes up.

Strikur- Excuse me, but it appears that you do not attend UCSD. So how would a Cal student know anything about the social life- much less the greek system-of a school like UCSD? I am currently part of the UCSD geek system, and have been extremely involved in philanthropic activities, sporting events, and social activities here at UCSD. About 12 percent of the undergrads are in a fraternity/sorority. UC San Diego doesn’t have on campus fraternity housing, but all the fraternities have multiple houses around La Jolla where social events and parties occur. In short, a Cal student shouldn’t even be on these boards. You have no relevant or actual information about UCSD, so get out of here.

To get back to the original poster’s question, several fraternities and sororities stick out at UCSD. I am part of Lambda Chi Alpha, a new but emerging fraternity on campus. We were ranked third in overall fraternity achievement, and second in philanthropy and scholarship. One of the top fraternities year after year is Sigma Chi. The top dog party fraternity is Pike, followed by Sigma Nu.

For the sororities, DG, Pi Phi and Theta all are good chapters. Sigma Kappa and A Chi O also stick out, with the others falling behind those listed.

this thread is from 2006. why revive

^Agreed, and @Massimi19 - it is considered extremely rude and highly frowned upon to list the actual tiers/stereotypes of chapters. There are no sororities “falling behind others”, and my sorority hangs out with PIKE constantly and they’re not just meathead party animals. You are really just feeding the negative stereotypes about the greek system. This is not a gossip website.

UCsandiego915- I apologize for “stereotyping”, I didn’t mean to do that. I did not mean to insult your sorority, I was merely listing the sororities that are the biggest and have had the largest rush classes recently. I realize most of the sororities at UCSD are full of great girls, and in no way do I wish to put down some of the smaller sororities.

Sorry for reviving this, wasn’t aware of the date!
