i'm gonna be a freshman at muir college major in chemistry! i plan to take Chem 4C, Math 4C, Philisophy 13, and Muir 40. How heavy is the work load? And will I have time to join Intramural sports and have a job?

The work load for your classes doesn’t seem too bad. If you really want to excel in your classes, you should try signing up for free OASIS tutoring workshops for your math and science classes. You will probably have time to join an intramural league, but it may be hard to find/balance a job in between, but if you are good at time management and if you really need a job, it won’t be too bad.

OASIS actually requires commitment to a steady schedule of tutoring sessions. if you’re a good independent worker/learner and just need the occasional help to clear things up, i’d say to skip OASIS and just use the chem and math helprooms.

thanks! i’ll def think aobut the oasis program.

and the help rooms

what are helprooms?

the result of googling “ucsd chemistry helprooms”

I was checking the availability list and WHOA Math 10A is filling up really quickly. I am not allowed to appt for classes until the 2nd and at this rate I dunno how I’ll even get a Math10A this fall… any idea how or why or what I should do?

people will drop. and if they don’t, 10A is offered every quarter. and i doubt it puts you behind for graduation …

hey guys, im an incoming freshman at Muir College and my declared major for now is Computer Science. Right now I’m thinking of taking Math 20C and MCWP 40 for sure. What I need help on is choosing to take CSE3 or CSE8A and possibly COGS10. So far I’ve had close to none experience in programming except for the light studying I’ve done until now. The most I’ve done is build a Helloworld java program. After taking the placement test, I was advised to take CSE3 which I was fully ready to do, but when I read the class descriptions for both the classes, CSE8A was described to be an introductory course for coding in java which needed no prior experience in java and only knowledge of high school algebra. I just want to make sure that CSE3 wont be a waste of my time. If CSE8A isn’t extremely difficult I’d really like to take it, but at the same time if it’s too challenging to take on I dont mind waiting. Also, depending on what course you guys think I should take, would COGS10 also be a possibility? I hope to get out of my dorm in college and participate in clubs and stuff, but I’m prepared to spend a lot of time studying, i just dont want to end up staying with my books 24/7 if you know what i mean.

Please feel free to ask me if you need any more info or any clarifications, and thanks for any help you can give me.

omg lol you’re class load is the lightest i’ve seen
someone’s going to have a fun 1st year fall quarter ;)

rly??? so i can take MCWP 40, CSE8A, math 20C, COGS10, and maybe one more class? i heard that math 20C is hard and CSE8A is challenging too

Haha Sidvicious, I think Angiee is talking about Fiercekitty.

oh ok lol. help me plzzz my registration time is in 2 days so i need to decide stuff quick.

I’m also enrolling in 2 days, and while I know nothing about CSE I have been told by people that highschool level of dabbling into a subject isn’t comparable to a college level introductory course… so, yea. -w-;

thats true but after my original post, my friend told me that he asked ppl who took the course and CSE8A is the real beginners course and CSE3 is for ppl who like havent touched a computer yet

Hi,
Does anyone know if Philosophy 13 is a hard class?
