UCSD Greek System?

I heard that there's no greek row, but is it worth it? When's rush? What are the different sororities like?

There isn’t a greek row, but typically there are fake “frat houses” where fraternity guys rent out several mansions and everyone parties there. Sorority women also live together in apartments or houses. It’s absolutely, definitely worth it! I’ve met the best friends of my life in my sorority and without it, it’s a lot more difficult to party and meet people at UCSD.

Rush takes place for sororities in the fall, for fraternities in fall and spring ( a few do winter rush as well). For sororities it is a 5 day long recruitment process that you can learn more about at [University of California - San Diego, PHC](http://www.panhellenicucsd.org). The sororities are all pretty diverse as far as types of girls go, they all have stereotypes but those are usually incorrect. Just go through recruitment, meet the girls, and you’ll know where you will fit in :)

Any other questions feel free to message me!

Thanks so much! I’m seriously considering ucsd and I was disappointed that they have a relatively small Greek system because that’s something I’m interested in, but you helped a lot!

It is relatively small compared to other schools but it still makes UCSD about 100x more fun :)

Is it really expensive to join a sorority?

There are many different types of fraternities and sororities at UCSD. Im a member of an asian-interest fraternity and from my experience I had the best first year being part of the fraternity. People say that UCSD is socially dead, but if you work hard and try to find activities and parties there definitely are a lot.
