So apparently UCSD has already sent acceptance letters to a very few "over-qualified" applicants. As bizzare as it sounds I met this older gentlemen that claims to have gotten accepted to UCSD as early in November.Apparently he claims that because of his high GPA(he says his GPA was 3.82 when he applied),majoring in some geology major(unfortunatley I did not remember specificaly what was the name of the major but it was something related to geology),being of an older age(to me he looked around his late 40s),and low income that UCSD automatuically accepted him within a few weeks of submitting his application.

My question is,is this even possible and why?

He was probably allowed to take a class at UCSD extension and now he thinks he’s been officially admitted to UCSD. Just gently nod and slowly back away from him while you dial 911 in your pocket lol.

The guy claimed that it wasn’t TAG at all.He claims to have gone to another university but then decided to go to a CC and has been conditionally accepted to UCSD and CSUF for Fall.Just need to finish the last required English course.I am as skeptic of his claim as anybody else but I just wanted to know if anybody knew of this kind of rare scenerio.

@ USMC0311: I think it was probably UCSD extension.who knows…

To all: I attend UCSD and work in the admissions office. UCSD (nor any UC for that matter) has not sent any kind of acceptance or rejection letters. It is very common for CSU’s to send out early admissions to those who have completed the “golden five” but UC’s DO NOT DO THIS.

I beg to differ. I don’t know about UCSD, but my son received an ELC letter from Davis several months ago, indicating that because of his gpa, he would be accepted “in the major of his choice” if he submitted an application to Davis and maintained his grades. He applied to UCSD (his first choice), Davis, and a few other schools. Just before Christmas he received an e-mail and a card in the mail saying, "You’re In! Congratulations, you have been accepted to the University of California, Davis, and listed his desired major. A classmate of his was also accepted.

So… it is not accurate to say that “NO UCs” have sent out acceptance letters.
