UCSD help!

So, I'm a little lost on my journey as a transfer student, and I hope someone would clear it up for me.

First of all, my major is Philosophy. I know I need 90 UC transferable credits (quarter) in order to transfer. I know I need to complete the IGETC before spring. But when I do transfer, do I have to complete the UCSD's college GE? If so, where can I get information on that? I'm sorta confused on that. Also, if I fail to complete my prereq, am I done for? I only need to take one class, but it's not offered at my CC, so I will take it elsewhere. I fear that that class won't be offered in the summer, so yea...

You can look here: ASSIST Report: DAC 09-10 UCSD Articulation Agreement by Major

well, yes and no.

It’s good that you complete everything just to be 100% sure however, if you don’t complete the required GE’s but still complete TAG, most likely your in with that major. Especially, because your major is not impacted

Well the I in IGETC is intersegmental, and the GE is the GE you speak of. So the IGETC is an multi-campus GE that works for (all?) the UCs. If you complete it, and get it signed and whatnot, then there is your GE and you are finished with it. When you’re missing a few IGETC courses is where it can hurt you, but then you just need to complete those at your new transfer school before getting signed off.

No chance of that class being in spring 2011?

UCSD’s six colleges have their own GE’s they want everyone of their students to do even if you finished IGETC. Usually students choose either Warren or Muir because they have the ‘easiest’ GE’s… So yes, if you finish IGETC you’ll still have to take other GE’s that are offered no where else other than UCSD…

As for your prereq, if you’re missing one or two it’s not big deal. Just take it during the summer at UCSD to catch up (if they don’t let you take it at your CC or its just not offered).

PS. Just make sure you maintain a solid GPA above a 3.2ish and you’re in most likely.

WrenchFies, I have classes to take at my CC in the spring. I’m attending a CC for the first time, so yea… not so experienced. Thanks all!

Choose Marshall, Warren or Muir.

^^ditto but has anyone heard if Sixth College is any good?

I’m in sixth and I kind of regret it. We have to take this two quarter practicum course in where we have to do some gnarly project that I’m not even sure how it works…

Not to mention, I think that we have to be a student at UCSD for at least two quarters before starting the practicum (and the two courses must be on consecutive quarters so this might totally screw my schedule)

If I could do it over again, I would do it like this: 1. Warren (because I am in engineering major), 2. Muir, 3. Marshall, 4. Sixth, 5. ERC, 6. Revelle
