UCSD Housing and Bikes

So I've decided on going to UCSD and now my concern is the housing. I DO NOT want a triple. So on my preference should I put single first then the apartments second to insure I do not get placed in a triple? I would like to live in the res halls with the rest of the freshmen but if I put single will they place me in a triple just so I get placed in the res halls?
Or should I put apartment as my first choice?

Also, what kind of bike would you recommend? A 10-speed or a beach cruiser? When I visited I didn't see many beach cruisers, is there a specific reason for that?

if your’e budget for a bike is under $300, you won’t be able to go uphill for sure unless you walk it. So invest in a solid bike that will last for the 4 years.

Lots of girls ride beach cruisers here especially during passing periods

What college are you in? Some colleges don’t have triples so you may be in luck.

(I read on this forum Warren will no longer have triples anymore. Not sure if any other colleges changed policies.)

I’m going to Warren, but admit day didn’t say anything about the no triples

One of my res hall tour guides said if you request a single, you’re more likely to get it than not, but she didn’t seem very sincere when she said it.

It’s also fair to note that apartments have only doubles and triples so you definitely wouldn’t get a single there anyway.

I submitted my housing application 2 days after I found out about my acceptance, could i still get a single in revelle

yes, but it’s not going to based off the time you submitted the housing form

really? I heard those who submitted the housing app first got priority…

I submitted my housing app the first day I received my acceptance notice and they didn’t give me the double I wanted. I also heard from my admit day last year that most people who want singles get it though…
