For those planning to be at UCSD for Fall 2010, what are your housing plans?

I'm split between the transfer housing and renting a place in PB. I think at least for the first semester I'll stay on campus...although Pacific Beach is where a lot of 21+ fun is...and getting to class with my streetbike would be a breeze. Decisions, decisions.

What about you?

Any past transfer students want to share your housing experience?

I plan to live off campus in the UTC area.

If I end up at UCSD I’ll be in the transfer housing. Looks like a chance at dorm life.

@theregoesevan:

same here, man. I wanna live 2-4 miles out, so that I can take advantage of the shuttles.

I have a family, so I’m applying for on-campus family housing (The Mesas).

Yeah. I’ll be scouting for roommates at the transfer admit day. Ha ha. Outgoing, open minded, friendly folks.

dont live in transfer housing! I checked it out a few weeks ago and it was literally a piece of shi*t. Everything was falling apart b/c they put up the building in pretty much a few weeks. The rooms are pretty big but they are so spaced apart that no one ever socializes and sees their neighbors. AND its ridiculously expensive. boo transfer housing!

^ i thought it was really nice… idk what rooms you were looking at. im going to go re check them out tho so we will see.

and wisdom… ChEd? haha if thats you the sportbike gave it away.

ps most likely ill be in the village for the first year just go get settled. i dont want to commute

If the rooms are super spaced out it kinda ruins the whole know a bunch of transfers vibe I’m getting. There’s no way that place is rundown though.

lol,

could you elaborate on that, I think I might happen to feel the same way. Also, what exactly does “spaced out” mean, do you mean that the rooms are spacious/roomy? or that they’re sort of segregated away from other neighboring rooms? (also what does “rundown” mean, is that slang haha).

Sounds like fewer people are interested in campus housing then I’d expected.

@ guitarfreak: I’ve got a friend living in the Warren housing…she thinks I should live in the transfer housing and says it’s the only place where parties are somewhat allowed to let slide because they assume we’re mostly 21+

@ ajdavidson: Nope!

@ theregoesevan: Out of curiosity are you scouting for roommates for on campus living or off?

wisdom, im looking for on campus roomies! and i ride a cbr600rr. haha.

also looking into off campus stuff, just in case.

Off campus roomies. The shuttle service is pretty reliable at UCSD. And house parties. Woot!

AJ: Sick man! I just picked up a YZF600R. I envision our future with many sunset rides down PCH while holding hands and listening to Jack Johnson. Do you mind being the catcher?

But in all seriousness are you planning on going to the Transfer Day?

tehe, giggle giggle
bahahaha so gay.

in reality, yes, yes i will be at transfer day. me and anther transfer that rides. he is trying to upgrade his 250. no more pansy bike.

i wanna check out PB places and UTC places, but i heard they are ****ty. it would be nice to get a place on torrey pines or shores… that would be legit.

ps we should get a facebook transfer page going for all of us. and then lets get a house party going. i got the beer pong table!

Cool man I’ll try and make it down to check it out. Your buddy on his 250 is ahead of me. I’m still putting my bike together. I got a crazy good deal on it because it was in pieces with an ignition issue…I figured out the issue and it’s coming back together so my bike will be my primary transport and my truck will be there for the occasional rainy day.

Or that’s the plan anyway.

@OliverTwist

The way I see it, the whole point of living on campus is so you can meet a bunch of people. I got to stay in a dorm when I went to Santa Barbara City College and it was great. When I said “spaced out” I was referring to segregation from neighbors and “rundown” means like a crappy room.

People talk like living off campus is your ticket to the good life but I was a party animal in the dorms with everything I could have wished for. Food was cooked for me, laundry was just downstairs, and I was hanging out with a crapload of people.

dude… no need to pay the 600 dollars a year or more for parking passes… it rains like 4 days a year ( sarcastic, but serious )

oh and the village is NOT run down. it was built LAST YEAR haha. plus there will be a whole new complex next year across the street
