UCSD Housing Plans

Dont forget that some of that $1000-1200 goes towards water, electricity, and gas. I wanted a single too, but theres no guarantee that i will immediately find a job. FOr the first year, mayby quarter, Ill live on campus. I decided on a 4 people room (without view) vs the 6 people (with view).

6 people = more of a chance that my suitemates will be bad ass.

It just made too much sense not to do.

Not to mention we get 2 showers for 6 people, they get 1 for 4.

And a balcony@!?!

@insert utilities still aren’t that expensive. i rent a bedroom in a two bedroom condo in orange county right now and split between two people it has never cost me more than another $150 per month. I’m looking at apartments down the street that the ucsd buses run to and theyre all between 1500 and 1700 a month.
So lets say i get the one thats 1700.
Per person thats
850 for rent
150 for bills
= 1,000 per month. The same as the village except I’ll have my own bedroom, one bathroom, and only one other person in the apartment.

I would have done it for a single room, but it’s not worth it to share a bedroom.

@andyhb85
when did you get your call from UCSD? i have not received that call from them yet. Also, is it true that they really ran out of single rooms already?

@briansays Call them. They ran out of single rooms before the first day they started calling people back. I paid my prepayment in the first hour that the site was open for payment and never received a call. After 5 days I called them and they said they were sorry but they had lost all of my information and were out of single rooms. So I cancelled with them. You should call them and see what happened. Since I didn’t select a room yet I 'm getting the entire $650 back. My friend selected a room and cancelled the next day and they’re only giving him $400 back lol.

are you serious…? wow. ill probably call them tomorrow. I might end up doing the same thing. Thanks for all the information though.

Yeah I’m not joking. I might get a 2 bedroom apartment with someone, or rent a room now. If you look up UCSD Commuter Services on their website, theres a bunch of people that have rooms for rent posted. Pretty much everything listed on their is cheaper than the village too which is pretty cool
